Me too. A guy losing his flock and then finding them again sounds like something you'd read in the bible.

They were actually quite scattered and he found one about 20 miles away

"There again, I went to see a farmer at Langwathby whose 45 in-calf heifers
had gone into the river. He'd been searching the river banks and managed to
find 41 of them.

"The amazing part is two were found at Crosby-on-Eden, which is north of
Carlisle, some 18 miles downstream I worked it out as. One was quite happily
grazing on the golf course."

Give us a break, Dave. Y'all is a contraction of "you all".
Just like "There's" is a contraction of "There is". Not
for formal use, of course, but acceptable in informal settings
like Usenet.

We can quibble, of course, about using it as a pronoun for a
singular noun.

It's not an improper word. It is a contraction for *you all*. I don't use
the contraction, and since I mostly only use "you all" at the beginning of
a sentence, or less frequently, after a comma pause, "you all" comes more
naturally to me than y'all, which sounds very Southern USA.

For the last 2 seasons, The Messiah has been included in our regular symphony
season tickets. We had to trade them in this year though, because I had to
work that Sunday.
