Bring it on, baby! ![]() It was Captain Vancouver that introduced cattle to these islands in 1793. It was pretty much of an ecological disaster because there were no large herbivores on these islands at the time. They laid waste to these lands. Maybe he should have brought some nice ostriches instead. ![]() http://www.hawaiihistory.org/index.c...CategoryID=254 |

Anyway, people that eat too much meat do not suffer from orthorexia nervosa. Mostly, they're a throwback to a bygone era - say around 300,000 years ago. ![]() |

I planted four fruit trees, two apple, two plum... fruit trees are a lot or work or I'd plant more, they require pruning and spraying. Fruit trees grow fast so old folks can plant them. I've planted corn, but it's really not worth it for the home gardener, needs too much space and when local corn is ready it's cheap. Corn grows very well here, but I've no use for fifty ears all at once, I buy a dozen ears from a local farm stand and that's all I want for the year. Actually I find corn a boring vegetable |

Oh they can grow corn, that's for sure. I spent a week vacation at the in-laws back in 1980. We were there the first week of September and they had way too much. We ate corn with every meal. This was in upstate NY, somewhere near where Sheldon lives. Galway, NY. - it's maybe an hour north of Albany where we flew to and from. Once you plant corn, it takes care of itself. Just harvest as much as you want. The rest just leave on the stalks. Deer love corn, groundhogs too. Then later the waterfowl migrate south for the winter and they will spot a cornfield easily and stop to feed. I think everyone loves corn except Sheldon. |

For instance: Chicken Chili with Black Beans and Corn Chicken, Corn and Coconut Milk Chowder Salmon with Corn Relish Corn and White Bean Soup Corn Enchiladas (or tamales) Roasted Corn Salsa -- sf |

Take a look also at Sheldon's Mexican rice and pork - it's a riff I've not seen before. |
