And there are either shortages now or I don't know what. We were running
low on a couple of shelf stable foods that I didn't need right away so I decided to place an order from Walmart. I decided to add that chicken broth that I love to my order. First I noticed that both the regular and the low sodium were out of stock and the price was up 2 cents! Then everything else that I checked was also out of stock. Weird. I suppose it could be that they put thing as being out of stock while they sort out the prices. I really don't know. I just saw too much that I wanted not being there. So I went with Amazon instead. Should be here in about 24 hours. Works for me! And most of the prices at Amazon are still good. Especially on produce. |

I am pretty much as well stocked as I can be. I do wish that I could have gotten more broth as I am drinking it almost daily, I love it so much! Can't always get it in the store either. |

There is plenty of broth out there that I don't like at all. I took advice here and made my own vegetable broth. Hated it. |

I am just not interested in doing that and to do so would be very expensive. This works for me. |

How could it *possibly* be more expensive than buying cans of broth online - that's after you find them in stock, with the right or wrong coupon codes and whatever other convoluted bullshit you go through to buy food... It'd be quicker, easier and cheaper to make your own. What could be any simpler than that to cook? You're just lazy, with a bad, negative - even toxic - attitude towards food and cooking. |

Bove has stated all too often she won't buy and never handles raw chicken, no matter what --- not even with 'gloves' !!! What's more expensive is to buy chicken broth in a can or box! But of course, that simple math (economics) seems to be beyond bove's low-level comprehension meter. OB Food: Dutch baby is intended for breakfast later this or tomorrow morning ![]() Sky |

I can't remember ever buying broth... you're paying an inflated price for mostly water, a few mystery ingredients, packaging, transportation, profits, and manufacturing expenses. I've considered those containers of broth but then realized each pint is made from a 5¢ bouillion cube. |

I don't stock up on perishable produce this time of year, my garden will be producing salad stuff soon... I don't stock up on perishables anyway, they're called perishables for a reason. |

I am actually glad that we are getting a PCC here. I just hope the parking isn't as bad as the one in Edmonds. Seems that the lot is always stuffed full and you have to keep driving around waiting for someone to pull out. The store is small enough and carries such a narrow range of products. I can get what I need. Get right in and right out. And the shoppers and store workers are always in a good mood! |

For sure, egg prices will go up, and I think our news reports here in Iowa said
the industry won't recover for about 18 months. I was only about half listening, but I think that's what they said. N. |

That will be a good thing because they vaccinate their chickens against salmonella, which means we can make real Caesar salad dressing again. -- A kitchen without a cook is just a room. |

You're the one who somehow got the idea that I was going to move in with you - and you posted that to RFC just out of the total blue. After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3 years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY MOVING IN WITH YOU? That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar at B.D. Reilly's rather than romantically obsessing over me for 2 years. Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away. There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo. And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're manic depressive mixed with habitual liar. Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles. -sw |

Fresh in-shell eggs don't ship well so lack of laying hens in one area has little to no affect in some other area. This week the market in town has eggs on sale, medium eggs at $1/doz. In urban areas one doesn't find the smaller eggs at market, typically just large and jumbo. In rural areas markets near the egg farms sell mainly medium and smaller eggs and at very low prices. |

In another two months, you won't be able to buy it at any price. http://www.motherjones.com/tom-philp...ultry-industry No more eggs, either. http://www.latimes.com/science/la-na...517-story.html They say it won't infect humans. Maybe. Not so far. But of course if we were all going to die, they wouldn't tell us. When Hillary Clinton was in Iowa, she stayed 20 feet away from everybody. |

Well that might explain the broth but it wouldn't explain the out of stock popcorn or other things. I will check again later. |

Why is this the case? Cuz we feed antibiotics to everything, thereby diminishing their efficacy to almost zero. They even feed honey bees antibiotics, ferchrysakes! The chances of this strain of avian flu to be completely antibiotic resistant is very high. If not this one, the next evolving strain. Not good, ppl. 8| nb --hasn't eaten CAFO chickens fer yrs! |

Not good, ppl. 8| Avian flu is caused by a virus, not a bacterium. Antibiotics work on bacteria, not viruses. Cindy Hamilton |
