I love it. Goes to show that all the filthy things said about *underage girls* can have consequences, whether on Twitter or in Newsgroups, it's illegal to do so and you just have to have the connections that Curt has. One was a ticket taker for the Yankees, fired. One was a radio host for a school, suspended. More to come. Go Curt! :-) Cheri |

I saw Curt's interview on TV on Tuesday, so you're the one who doesn't have your facts straight, but that's not a huge surprise. Not trying to make a point here, trying to make a point on all the newsgroups I subscribe to, this isn't the only cesspool with a couple of vile posters. Cheri |

No need for anyone to apologize to me, I was just stating what Curt said. If you went to Curt's blog and saw what those cretins posted, I wouldn't care how old she was if I was her parent, but it illustrates that there really is no anonymity and things like those tweets can actually ruin their sad little lives, especially when you mess with someone who has the money, the forum etc., to pursue it. I imagine a lot of people took notice. Cheri |

But then the 17-year-old saw some of the vulgar, sexually explicit Tweets about her and, she tells PEOPLE, "I realized this was different." "No one deserves this! No one (whatever age) should have to put up with that and I hope all those who do those things, are hunted down. They seem to think newsgroups are private places where they can do whatever they like! I'm a kid and you are disrespecting me, but yes, I'm proud of my boobs and don't mind pointing it out. Putting all that aside, we live in a time where nasty comments are the norm and very public. Many of us have made comments to each other in the schoolyard, the locker room, at work, but we would never think to post what was backroom humor in a public place. Used to be some ethical or moral guidelines that a private joke was just that and not published for the world to see. Add to that, a sense of humor has been lost if the comment is at all ethnic, racial or sexist. Careers have been lost over minor comments. |

So, Mr. Maturity thinks lewd remarks are just fine if she's "of age"? And so what about her boobs? She is not dressed inappropriately in the photos I saw. How many times have I stated that I don't engage in *art* with the expectation of earning money, and that I am content to lose money, as was certainly the case with The Bonobos? My *artistic* endeavors may indeed seem "crazy," but I am not delusional about their likelihood of producing "financial success." Whatever posting excerpts from the book (or lyrics from The Bonobos for that matter) is, it doesn't fit the definition of SPAM. Expect more Winter excerpts, as I don't respond well to being told what *not to write* on Usenet. --Bryan |

I read the "preview" > and all I can say is... yawn. A boring fantasy from a tubby guy sitting > behind a computer. Heh. > Formerly "tubby guy" would be more accurate. These days I hover around 172#. With my rather drastic reduction in alcohol consumption (thank you Dr. Sinclair), and the physicality of my current job, I am only about 10-12% above my ideal weight. You just set me up for another Winter quote: ______________________________________________ Ian wasn't one to ignore opportunities, and his approach was thought out. After their first night together, she asked him about the Cinnamon Buns scented body wash she'd showered with, and he'd told her that it served several purposes. "Above all, it cleans, and it also works well as a shampoo. Also, it reminds me of Lauren, which is bittersweet, but mostly sweet. It was her favorite. Then there's the fact that it smells great, and I can afford it. Finally, and this is important Winter, it reminds me to live my life in a certain way. See, I used to be overweight, and when I decided that I'd rather be hungry than fat, I had to give up many things, mostly carbohydrates. Of course, that meant that cinnamon buns were pretty much out of the question. One day, in the shower, where so many profound epiphanies are reached, I thought about my desire for the cinnamon rolls, which had been brought to mind by the fragrance, and something clicked. There were two ways one could feel. One was that the scent was frustrating, because it reminded me of what I couldn't have, but on the other hand, if I gave up the soap, then I'd not only be losing the pleasure of tasting, but also the pleasure of smelling. My mind flooded with the knowledge that so much in life was that way, and so often the choice made was, 'all or nothing'. I promised myself to always go for the smell of cinnamon buns, and as a symbol, to never take another bite of one." __________________________________________________ ______ > > Jill --Bryan |

I've only read bits and pieces of his book so I won't even critisize the entire book until someday I might actually go for it to read. His excerpts give you no idea of the plot. I love to read but so far I have to really *plow* through the bits that I've read. They seem to be going nowhere. I always seem to have to fight just to finish what's written. The bits that he posts do nothing to entice a reader to want more. And to Bryan....I'm saying this as an honest review - not cutting down what you wrote. This is what I feel about it without reading it all. Take this constructive critisizm. Whether it turns out success or failure, kudos to you for putting all that effort into a project. Writing a book length thing takes a lot of time and dedication and you did it. IMO, rather than keep posting boring excerpts why don't you post a quick general summary of the book and it's plot or purpose. Whenever you pick up a real/paper book, most people go right to the back cover to read that quick summary. That is what I always go for to decide whether to read or not. HTH ![]() |

I open the book to a random page and read a bit. If the book read anything like his, I for sure would not buy it. Not my style. |

What is diabetic support pantyhose? Not only have I never heard of it but I haven't worn pantyhose since the 80's. |

NASA reminded me of I Dream of Jeannie. When I was maybe 9, 10, 11 years old, I used to watch that and I always thought that given a choice between Jeannie and being an astronaut, they could keep that astronaut nonsense. Barbara Eden had the most astoundingly beautiful face I'd ever seen. Re-watching it earlier this week, I haven't changed much in that regard. --Bryan |

Shirley a test pilot can afford to have it done by someone else... say, an unemployable 'writer', for example? |
