Yes, something that should be blindingly obvious to any parent or
guardian. Most kids here wouldn't dream of not cleaning up after
themselves, unless they prefer to face the consequences.

I'd wager the Bove household eats in front of each of their own TVs.

Glad to hear he outgrew it. We were allowed to have a small bag of
chips or something like that to snack on in the bedroom. Absolutely not
a plate full of food and nothing involving cutlery.

The only time we didn't eat at the table was when our parents were going
out. That's when we got to eat on TV trays (a treat!) and watch
television at dinner time. Woo hoo!

*sigh*

That all began because of the tarnished things. Daughter thought they were
dirty and then husband told her some nonsense that I won't repeat here and
next thing I knew, both were refusing to use the dishes and flatware. I do
buy colored flatware for holidays and pattered paper plates. I have my
Halloween ones and the flatware is a green color.

*I* use the regular flatware for a variety of things, including cooking.
And I was dismayed to see that we were down to like 3 spoons. I was also
dismayed to see that our flatware was so identical to the silver colored
plastic stuff that I'd bought that *I* may well have been throwing the
spoons out as I cleared away the dishes. I knew I had only given my husband
the plastic spoons. I did not know that he had been secretly taking the
real spoons and placing them on plates and in bowls. Oh ha ha. Really
funny. Not!

So now if he does try to pull this stunt again, he won't get away with it
because this flatware looks totally different. And nobody can use the
excuse that it is "dirty".

I'm pretty sure that she joined the mob some time ago.

What I see that I posted is that I got new flatware. Yay! That's a good
thing.

And that I learned that for some of it, you shouldn't use lemon dish soap or
leave it sitting in a tomato product.

And yet? As my posts always seem to do, attacks on me and my family.

I'm pretty sure that I am not the only person to buy seasonal paper plates.
Yes, a lot of people actually have real plates that are seasonal. Not only
can I not afford to do that but I have no place to store them and wouldn't
want to. What's wrong with paying 99 cents for a package of Halloween
plates? And the green flatware was on sale at Safeway. $1.59 for one
package and the other was either free or half price. Can't remember and no
longer have the receipt. I just remember having to buy two to get the sale
price.

So tell them to either deal with this 'dirty' flatware or go hungry.
What is difficult about that? Why pander to their childish
selfishness?

ROTFL... unbelievable.
Not only that, you claimed only a few days ago that spoons and forks
were disappearing and weren't sure where they went.

You just said one paragraph above "identical to the silver colored
plastic stuff that I'd bought that *I* may well have been throwing the
spoons out as I cleared away the dishes".

We never ate in our bedrooms either. Of course, back then the only things in
the rooms were beds and dressers, no TV's and things like that, those were
in the living room. We did get to eat ice cream and popcorn in the living
room while watching TV.

I'm amazed at the speculation of scenarios that people here come up with
about the Bove family. The Royal family of Great Britain and
Kardashians don't get that much attention.

Yep, there were no televisions or computers or anything like that. I
read a lot, always have. I used to read in my bedroom. I didn't take a
plate of food in there with me, though.

Yes, it's quite funny. We do in fact have 4 TVs. One is a tiny color one
from the 1980's. Still works, but not hooked up. Not cable ready of course
or up to today's standards. But I still have it. It was used briefly when
we first moved here. I put it in daughter's room and we had hooked up the
old VCR to it. We have a VCR/DVD player hooked to the TV in this room. I
don't think it works. I don't think it ever did. It was a gift. I just
don't watch movies. And daughter has her own portable DVD player plus her
laptop.

Husband has two TVs of his own. One was purchased when he moved to CA. He
keeps one strictly for playing video games and the other is hooked to cable.
Daughter and I share one that is hooked to cable. Probably purchased in
2000 or so. Not a flat screen. And she rarely ever watches TV any more.

Oh and what is she having for dinner? Leftover mac and cheese, raw baby
carrots, ranch dip, black olives and two watermelon spears. I haven't eaten
yet and not sure what that will be.

My brother had a TV and a computer in his bedroom. We did eat stuff like
Halloween candy in our rooms and I did drink tea and other things in there
but I didn't eat in there. No TV or computer in there now. Have never had
a computer in there but did have a TV in a couple of places where I lived.
One was a black and white.

I just have plain white plates. They look lovely no matter what the
season.

And a set of 8 place settings fits just fine in one kitchen cupboard.

My plates are white with a latticeware pattern around the rim. the
glassware is cobalt blue. And I use different placemats. Paper plates
are for sandwiches, not meals. Plastic flatware is for to-go food, or
maybe picnics.

Even my picnic basket contains corelle-like plates, sturdy cups and
metal forks and knives.

Okay. That's you. I am not a plain person by any stretch of the
imagination.

It is pretty amazing, isn't it. It's like "paparazzi posters" or something.

And if they don't stop, I will have an even more swelled head than I already
do.

Oh! I am baking something. Breakfast casserole with sourdough bread,
sausage, eggs and cheese. A little dry mustard, salt and pepper to season.
I need to get it done and plated because it will take up too much room in
the fridge in the casserole. My CSA package will be here in about 5 hours
and I need room for that stuff.

The CSA had a special on some kind of steak cut in strips. I will sauté it
with red bell peppers and onions for husband's and daughter's dinner
tomorrow along with white rice. I might add a little soy sauce but I won't
call it a stir fry or they won't eat it. Also have some chicken breasts
coming. Need to figure out what to do with those.

And then hopefully it will cool off and I can make soup.

Nope. If that were true then everywhere I went, people would react to me
like some people do here. And they just don't. They never do. However, if
I were to spot anyone in real life who treated me like you and some others
do, I would make a very big point to avoid them. I am here to discuss food
and cooking. And there is always the hope that one of you might actually
get to that subject. Sometimes you do. But you seem to take much more
delight in trying to take nasty little jabs at me.

And now? I must think of something to do with the 4 single serve cups of
mashed instant mashed potatoes that I found in the cupboard. I bought those
when I was stuck on the couch with my foot but it seemed that Angela
preferred baked potatoes to those. I am thinking perhaps of something along
the lines of a cottage pie. May I say cottage pie? That implies no
specific kind of meat I think. Because I am thinking of using some chicken
in it. Gee... Maybe I can use those breasts that are coming. And some
canned peas. Oh that ought to ruffle some feathers here. Canned and
prepared foods. Oh the horrors!

On the plus side, my starch cupboard (pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried
beans, barley) is nicely cleaned out and organized.

You have no reason to constantly feel like you have to defend yourself.
You create your own drama here. I've had attacks, but I ignore it. I
don't feel the need to defend myself over one or three people
questioning something I do.

Just learn to ignore things here. It's so not important.

Julie, cottage pie is made with minced beef and shepherds pie is made with minced lamb. You could call yours potato topped chicken pie or something.

*I* create drama? No. I say something and then some people here are all
over me. They are the ones creating the drama.

I guess they need something to focus their spiteful tiny minds on. They are

And they're doing that too! Two of them in another newsgroup that I had
left. Accidentally clicked on it and there was my name. I am being blamed
for some supposed fight that broke out in some thread that I didn't even
know about. And prior to that they were telling people not to help me
because I was crazy! Yes, people from this very group. One of which likely
posts under another name if he posts here at all. He was outed on that
group for screwing up and using two names. Heh.

And remember all the times when I wasn't even here and they still went on
and on? Wouldn't matter if I were here or not. Or what I said or not.

It's a waste of time, Cherry. I will say I have made turkey "cottage
pie" with Thanksgiving leftovers and I called it turkey cottage pie. (I
used real mashed potatoes.) That use of leftovers netted me a write-up
in the Wall Street Journal. That was years ago and I never even got a
copy of the paper.

Actually, she did. Those are the definitions. I guess you get so much
nastiness, you don't recognise when someone is being helpful.

No, it is not comical and they wouldn't like it if it were happening to them
or their family.

They are beneath contempt.

Yes. They are trying to drive you out, although who they will gang up on
next goodness only knows. It would be amusing if they turned on one of
their own.

I'm sure you've killfiled me, Oph, but she bathes in all this attention.
She doesn't want anyone to be helpful. She asks for advice then
shoots down every suggestion. I don't know why you don't recognize it.

Does she know how to cook mutton or lamb? Doubtful. Of course, no one
would eat it. When are you going to get a clue?

Do you really believe that? People don't follow her around. Why would
anyone bother?
