When MasterChef started here I was fascinated, but now it seems like
a rerun. Lidia's boy's sneering and jeering, having to cook for large numbers of troops, Gordon's ranting about "rawr" food, etc. is not as compelling so many years on. Every little gimmick they use to hold the viewer's interest has been done before. |

Sadly the "producers" responsible for churning out much of the programming today are fixated on "drama" and have no comprehension of actual program content. It's not just food programs that have suffered this way, the same happened to many other programs that started with some technical content (American Chopper, Monster Garage, etc.) and devolved into drama fests devoid of any of the previous technical content. |

Please don't snap at me for replying to an ancient thread, but we've been
watching the Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and South African Masterchef programmes, which have a very different format and some brilliant cooking. And in some cases some star guests, eg Heston.
