I really have no idea why Bryan professes to hate me so much, except that if he does have Narcissistic Personality Disorder (which I strongly suspect) one trait of that disorder is a very fragile sense of self esteem, which because I'm explicating something so "close to home" STS he feels it threatens him. I really wish he would get some effective therapy, probably medication. I have learned that we really DO have some very good psychiatric meds now. Not like in the old days when our arsenal of mneds was cvery limited abnd brutal. I mean we still have those meds, but we use them less and less. Like the Seroquel I'm on. Very gentle and effective! Allows mne to still be me, just not so intolerably much! I really hope Bryan finds such an effective treatment. I really DO miss my friend! He and I had fun together like no one else I've ever known! He really, really, hates you. And hate is a very strong word. Usually hate comes about when you care for someone deep down inside. Hate is very different than dislike. That is why the words love and hate often go hand in hand. I don't hate Bryan. But I sure as heck dislike him. From what he presents here, he isn't a nice person. I'm sure there is a reason or reasons for this. I don't know that being a Narcissist would be the reason. I know of a Narcissist (yes it was formally diagnosed) who is no longer with us. He could be quite trying and annoying at times and clearly he thought he was superior to everyone else on the face of the earth. But he never ever said the sort of nasty trash that Bryan does. Low self esteem could come into play there but there has to be something else coming into play that is causing him to act the way that he does. And perhaps it is more than one thing. Not sure that any of us here could sort it all out but more than likely he would try the patience of any good counselor should he decide to seek one out and be honest with them. Which as I well know, people who are like this often will not. They are able to BS their way through life, making everyone around them look sick and flawed. Of course if they continue to go to the counselor for long enough, there is a chance that their true colors may show. Only then might such a person get help. But... As I also well know, a person like this will not seek help unless/until they see a problem. At present, Bryan only sees problems with other people. Not himself. > I really wish he would get some effective therapy, probably > medication. I have learned that we really DO have some very good > psychiatric meds now. Although I do dislike his present form, I also believe that most people deep down inside are good people. But sometimes the good is hard to see. |
