Default slow cooker corned beef

I'm getting mixed messages on timing. Mine is just shy of 3 pounds -
one source says 8 to 8.5 hours or on High setting for 4 to 4.5 hours
for 1 1/2 kg corned beef another says cook 4 pounds corned beef on
high for 7 to 8 hours. So, what is it - low or high and for how long?

The booklet that came with my Rival is a tad confusing. The method is
for corned beef *and* cabbage. It says cut the cabbage into wedges.
Cook the corned beef on High 5-6 hours. Add the cabbage wedges, pushing
down to moisten. Turn to High (I guess they assume you cooked it on Low
10-12 hours) and cook an additional 2-3 hours. For the cabbage, would
be my guess.

The corned beef by itself should be done in about 6 hours. Don't be
afraid to take the lid off and poke it with a fork. I know, I know, it
loses heat. Really, you're not going to have the lid off that long.

I cook a 3 to 4 lb. corned beef brisket
in my crock pot on low for 9 hours. It
says to add the cabbage wedges to the pot
during the last hour of cooking on low,
but after 9 hrs. I remove the meat (keeping
it warm)and then I add the cabbage to the
crock pot. I turn the temp. to high and
cook 30 to 40 minutes.

A lot of it depends on the Crock Pot,
but by the the corned beef is fork-tender
and so is the cabbage.

Thanks, I've decided not to cook everything together. I'll use the
braising liquid to cook the potatoes, onion, carrots and cabbage. The
cabbage will go in dead last because I don't like over cooked cabbage
(unless, of course, it has been caramelized in butter and mixed with
noodles).

I messed up on the corned beef. Thought I had it in the fridge and it
was frozen. Defrosted it and did it in the pressure cooker this
morning. Put the corned beef in foil and chilled it for easy slicing.

Cooked the potato and cabbage in the PC that the corned beef had cooked in.

There is less shrinkage to the corned beef in the PC than the slow cooker.
