Seems to me bags of salad would have been the quick fix, less prep way
to go *for* Thanksgiving. They probably bought way more than they could
sell.

Hmmmm. Now that you mention it, maybe not for Thanksgiving. Or
Christmas, either. Most every other night, salad was offered with
dinner. (It was my job to tear the lettuce, even if I didn't eat salad.)

Thanksgiving, Christmas...I know there were crudités and dip. Probably
made with Lipton onion soup. I have a glass serving plate for that sort
of thing somewhere around here. I'll never use it.
