And neither, I discovered, was my wife on her machine and that
finally got me searching for a solution. The problem it turned out was
Kaspersky's anti-banner feature on my system: it was set to use a
"common banner list" as the "scan method". I unticked that and now I
can access tinyurl.com again.

(I'm providing this info in the hope it may be of use to others.)

Now to go look at Woot again.

It was a good deal... $100 less than the sale price listed on Amazon.
