Why would you cook lasagna *and* pizza in one day? I would never even
consider such a thing.

I don't know yet; something very simple. I am preparing spareribs and
a huge, huge turkey breast for smoking tomorrow. The ribs are for
dinner and the turkey breast is for sandwiches and whatever can be
made with it.

But there's no smoke in your bread to flavor it.

And I have never understood our fascination with serving cheap white
bread with BBQ either.

Making a plum & peach jam... haven't decided on dinner but it will

I just pulled a chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner. Not sure
what I will do with it yet.

I roasted veggies, mostly red peppers and some squash. Will BBQ a couple of
hamburger patties later.

Have you thought about spatchcocking it? It's an easy way to snag the
backbone for your stock bone supply in the freezer and the bird cooks
evenly. I think it would be nice roasted/baked with lemon and either
rosemary, thyme or oregano.

Bobby Flay's recipe (thyme)
I don't know why this says ricotta cheese in the link

Nigella Lawson's recipe (thyme)

Ina Garten's recipe (rosemary)

Ina Garten's recipe (oregano) vary to a whole chicken

I always do if I am going to roast. They never seem to cook evenly if I
just roast them as is.

I stopped roasting red peppers. Lately I have been buying big jars of
roasted red peppers for a small fraction of the cost of buying red
peppers and roasting them. No muss, mo fuss and a huge savings.

I like the idea of the marinated veg, especially the zucchini etc. Yes I can
see that would give them a lot of flavour. I see something similar in my
very near future

It all sounds lovely) Made especially good when your family come to join

I'm sure a lot of people enjoy it, the sales tell the tale, but I prefer a
mixed drink or a cold beer.

They were 3/1.00 so I got 9. I don't really think there's much muss or fuss
to them. The skin slips off easily when putting them in a plastic zip-lock
for a few minutes after roasting(thanks Ina), and I love them just cold. Raw
peppers don't seem to agree with me much. I'll have to check out the jarred
sometime though.

I made biscuits (cookies). Weekender biscuits, peanut butter crinkles
and ginger nuts. Also made some fried rice with leftover jasmine rice
and roasted a leg of lamb and veges for an early dinner last night.

Where do you find these jars of peppers? Several years ago they sold
them at No Frills, but I haven't seen them lately.

No time for cooking. I've had to prepare for a new cat to join our
family. My dinner was just some nuts and chips. I didn't even eat
breakfast or lunch. That totally screws up my metabolism.

As a kid, we had Welch's grape juice often. About 10 years old, I got
to try some Mogen David wine. It was like grape juice with a kick.

As an adult, I tried some good wines and have been drinking it ever
since. I do buy a few really good ones, but some of the stuff in the
box works very well too. I've also made wine from kits. It is really
pretty decent stuff.

At any given time, I have from 50 to 150 bottles in the house.
Drinking wine is one of life's little pleasures that most anyone can
enjoy.

Of course there's always kids at bus stops on Saturdays in July.

Would you like to buy some puddle insurance?

I didn't cook today. Gave husband some orange chicken. Came frozen. He
loved it! Picked up some cooked brown rice from Central Market. Angela had
some Tofurkey pizza (frozen) and a salad. I had bean tacos.

I was going to cook a pot of beans but the fridge is stuffed full. I assume
that Angela will have the same tomorrow. Will probably make frozen burritos
for husband. Need to use them up. Might make him some taquitos too. Need
the freezer space. Not sure what I'll have since my tortillas had an
accident. The bag was not sealed properly so when I picked it up, they all
dumped on the floor.
