Default Kicking up watermelon sherbert

I got some watermelon sherbert at the supermarket the other day. Bland
stuff.

Not as good as watermelon sherbert I've had from ice cream shops. So I added
some orange soda. Very tasty.

And I found this recipe for a sherbert punch. Looks good:

There's no second "r" in there. The word is sherbet. And sherbet punch is
no new thing. It was standard fare at kid's parties when I was young.

That doesn't make it any less cool.

It might be spelled without the extra r, but don't worry... you're not
the only one who calls it "sherbert". I've never *once* heard it
called sure-bet. Nobody says sher-bet - except maybe the perfect
people who post to rfc and we can't hear them.

Substitute champagne for soda pop and it's a grown up punch!

It is sherbet, no second r, and that is the way I pronounce, ever since
I was a kid and learned that it is not sherbert.

I must have been culturally deprived. I had never even heard of sherbet
punch.

However, I noticed that we are almost out of sherbet. I should scoot out
and get some. It will be an excuse for a motorcycle ride. I normally run
small errands by bicycle, but not when it involves frozen food.

Poor dear. It was a staple at bridal and baby showers. Usually
involved 7-up along with maybe lemonade, scoops of sherbet were added to
the punch bowl at serving time. Foo-foo.
