Yeah... but remember, the Hawaians have a human sacrifice history too. They also killed "good ol" Captain Cook! That said, I recently read a detailed book about his life and 3 famous voyages. He turned very different and angry during the last voyage. He probably deserved to die that day.....sadly. OB food/drink: My favorite specialty coffee is Hawaiian Kona made in a french press. I think one of the long-time but infrequent posters here grows and sells that. Is is Cici? That name comes to mind. G. |

Perhaps the Hawaiians just had better PR and are less proud of their warrior heritage. > > That said, I recently read a detailed book about his life and 3 famous > voyages. He was probably counting on the fact that the Hawaiians considered him to be a living God to make him invulnerable. As I recall, he wanted to hold the Hawaiian King for ransom. The Spanish conquistadors were probably better at that sort of thing. Cook's goose was certainly cooked - and then they ate him! That's a horrible thing to do but they probably only did that to folks they held in high esteem and had a lot of mana. It's nutty alright but I suppose that's the same idea behind the Holy Communion. > > OB food/drink: My favorite specialty coffee is Hawaiian Kona made in a > french press. This was beautiful stuff - light shiny roast with all the beans the same size and no broken beans or funny stuff. It was OK but 100% Kona is kind of boring. A blend of 70% Kona with some robust beans could be just my cup of tea but nobody makes such a product. > > G. > |
