yeah, I saw that, but I'm not interested in paying shipping just to
try a bottle.

That sounds very tasty, but must cost a bloody fortune.

If you have a good ethnic foods supermarket you may be able to find this
on the cheap:

http://www.philamfood.com/JUFRAN-BAN...P-19.76OZ.html

http://www.lunch.com/Reviews/food/Ju...e-1432148.html

Since ketchup is mostly based on tomatoes, banana sauce and ketchup is
made from mashed bananas, vinegar to give it a tangy taste, some salt,
spices and garlic powder.

The flavor is a little hard to quantify, but it does not taste like a
banana, much more complex and tangy.

I haven't tried it with fried chicken yet, but why the heck not?

And that recipe for marinating the chicken in lemon, fish sauce and hot
sauce sounds darned tasty as well.

I'm very familiar with that product, thanks. It's sold in regular
grocery stores here. I didn't see there were links with prices on the
url Sitra posted until after I hit send.

Filipinos eat it with lumpia and to be honest, that's the only way I
eat it. It doesn't work with french fries, IMO. I'm not a big
ketchup user and FF are about the only time I reach for ketchup.

Np, it's found here at Asian markets, but I've seen it at Hispanic food
stores too.

Guess that susses out given the core ethnicity of the Phillipines.

The local Latino population has borrowed some typical Asian condiments
too. The biggest one, IMO, is using soy sauce in their fajita
marinade.

Thanks, I saw it after I hit send. Not cheap, but not outrageous
either.

One of these days I will be trying the organic ketchup that my wife
bought me at Christmas. I rarely use ketchup, and the odd times that I
have had it lately I have been really disappointed in how bland and
soupy it is. I had been looking for a better quality product. I was
planning on trying this organic stuff when I eventually used up the
bottle I bought last fall. It is almost gone. So many in a month or two
I will open this organic stuff and see what it is like.
