I bought a bag of these as the kid had tried them and loved them. OMG-
one of the nastiest things I have tried in a long time! I'm just warning you in case you get the urge... |

When I was a kid, one year in my bag of Halloween candy I got a small wrapped yellow hard candy labelled "chicken bone". It was so bad I had to go to the toilet to spit it out along with as much saliva as I could, followed by washing my mouth out with copious amounts of water. That was about 45 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Better than yesterday, actually. What did I do yesterday? I can only guess there was a sociopathic confectioner somewhere that set out to create most vile hard candy the law would allow. I suppose it was just chicken boullion added to the molten sugar. |

The waffles were made with cornmeal and > yes, it was *that* good. My MIL is the first one who mentioned this dish to me. I can't remember what she was cooking that night for dinner but it was either something I didn't like or as I remember it, I just really wasn't very hungry and maybe wasn't feeling well. I opted to have a frozen waffle instead. Just the waffle. She asked me if I wanted some chicken on it. I thought that sounded strange! But she said, no, people often ate chicken and waffles. So I said, "How is it done?" Her answer was just that it was chicken and waffles. So I wrongly assumed that it would be something like pieces in chicken in gravy poured over the waffle. That still sounded strange to me but more doable than what I later found it it really was! The combination of fried chicken with bones in it and syrup on top just seems wrong. |

I also never understood those Chicken in a Biscuit crackers. I talked my mother into buying those once even though the told me that I wouldn't like them and they were really disgusting. They actually weren't disgusting and I kind of liked them although I am not a big cracker person. But I was sorely disappointed because I was at the age where disgusting food appealed to me. I really expected this cracker to somehow have chicken in it or at least a chicken flavor. And it did not. |

I remember those too but think they were different. At least they were a different size. I think perhaps the bones are still being made. Lemme see... Yep. Different. And now I see why I didn't like them. Butterscotch. Hate that flavor! http://www.oldtimecandy.com/chicken-bones.htm |

Whenever I cooked a new food, my daughter often didn't want to try is as it sounded bad or weird or whatever. I didn't force her to eat it but I always insisted that she try just one bite. If she didn't like it after that, no problem and I would never give it to her again. Surprisingly though, she ended up liking maybe half of the "strange" things that she thought she wouldn't like. Well, that's something new since the old days. There were no subs with the Big Mac at all. I haven't had one of those in many years. Cheri |

Why is this crap in our food!? |

Really throws them for a loop when you order something with something left off. I got tons of free food from them back in the 70's. It started with me going through the drive through and asking for a plain cheeseburger. They got it wrong so gave me coupons for free food. I didn't like their food so much but my brother and friends did, especially when it was free. So they'd beg me to go order a plain cheeseburger. We got many, many bags of free food and drinks from doing this little trick. Once I even got a bun. Just a bun wrapped in paper. Yep. It was that bad. |

When I first read that, I thought it was subs as in a submarine sandwich. Wouldn't surprise me if some locations do those. I remember the cross country move we made where my husband would only stop at McDonalds for lunch. Some locations had things I'd never seen anywhere else. Hot dogs, soup, odd salads. |

You couldn't with the Big Mac in the old days, they wouldn't even leave off the special sauce. Dunno if other franchises did or not, but that was the way it was where I am. Cheri |
