Well, we have tried it and do not like it. Thankfully it wasn't too
terribly expensive. We had to go to a thing at the high school and we got in late. It was on our way home and a new one went in here a few months ago. So I told Angela we would try it. She was less than thrilled because she has a dislike for fast foods. I got two naked burrito bowls. Brown rice, pinto beans. The beans looked a tad greasy and sloppy. For some reason they were swimming in a lot of...broth? She had chicken on hers with cheese, guacamole and sour cream. I had the ground beef, pico de gallo, fajita vegetables. And we both had lettuce. As you can imagine, the lettuce got kind of wilty. The fajita vegetables have an odd taste to them but I can't figure out what it is. Something in there tastes soapy. I thought maybe it was those but maybe the pico de gallo? Cilantro doesn't normally taste soapy to me but when I grew my own, it did. Something in here is so spicy hot that it is burning my tongue. I can't tell what it is. Angela said hers is not that way. The pico is supposed to be mild. Overall it is just not a good blend of food. Seems like parts of this dish are not seasoned enough and something is seasoned way too much. Must be the ground beef. I don't think we'll be eating this again. I am having to force it down and it's just not good. Makes me wish I had gone with my first instincts and cooked up some beans and rice last night. That would be a lot tastier than this! |

But there were also some really bad reviews that went along with what I found the place to be. I did ask another person today if she ever ate there. She said that they tried it twice and did not like it at all. She said she thought it was zucchini that they put in their fajita mix that made it taste weird. I don't recall seeing any but there might have been. She also said that by the time she got to the end of her order, she was told that there was no more guacamole to which she replied, "Well, I don't want it then!" They tried to make her buy it. And knowing her, that likely didn't happen. She said she thought the appeal to men was that the food was big and full of meat. I did see the guy ahead of me get a burrito with ground sirloin and it did seem to have a lot of meat. My naked burrito however did not and the bowl wasn't even close to being full. I'd say the amount of food that I got was worth about $3.00 even in a restaurant. Perhaps a tad more for Angela's only because she had guacamole and sour cream on hers. And yet the total was around $17.00. |

No. In fact we never go into downtown Bothell, although we did go through part of it today to get to the high school. Looks like they are putting up a lot of new places there. We did try Paison Tequila which is on the way to downtown Bothell. It came highly recommended to us by the owner of Ixtapa in Lynnwood. The owners are friends of his. Daughter and husband loved the place but I can't say that I did. Part of the problem was that I got a waitress who seemed to speak very little English. She kept misunderstanding what I had ordered. Then I made it worse by telling her that I needed a place setting. Meaning a knife, fork, spoon and napkin. We both had a hard time understanding each other. I thought finally she had understood what I had said and when she repeated it back to me, I told her that was what I wanted. Then I began to wonder when I saw her with a shocked look on her face and my husband and daughter had the same shocked looks. I can't even remember now what it was that she thought I said but it was something totally comical in that nobody in their right mind would have ordered that. And then when I tried to tell her that, no, that wasn't what I had said at all, she just couldn't get it. So I told her, "Never mind" which she also didn't understand. So what I wound up getting was some really strange plate of food that probably left the chef scratching his head as to why I would have ordered that to begin with. And still no silverware. I had to flag someone else down to get that. The place was so packed that I couldn't swipe one from another table because the other tables were all full. Oh and our table! It was actually two small tables pushed together and the one I got stuck sitting at had a wonky leg or something. It was so wobbly that any time anyone set their hand on it, it tilted towards me. Of course after my husband noticed this, he kept doing this on purpose. Several times I had to grab a drink or something because it nearly slid into my lap. We should try it again. I think it really would be good if I didn't get that same waitress and perhaps a different table. We have also eaten at Jaliscos. Angela really dislikes it because they put a lot of cheese and sauce on their food and she is not a sauce person. Husband loves it. And although I do like their food, they have gotten my order wrong so very many times that I will not go back. And almost across the street from there is Aca Las Tortas. He raves about their food and it is close to where he works. But... He and I seem to very much disagree on what we think is good Mexican food. So I am leery to try them. He disliked Ixtapa because he dislikes the sauces and that's the very reason I like them! He also likes Azteca and I just can not see why. I have never gotten anything that I consider to be edible in there except for the beans. Whatever they call the whole beans. I can't remember. Once they were too salty but otherwise fine. The next time they needed salt. But everything else I have gotten is just bad and IMO it is hardly authentic. I also think their salsa is watery and flavorless and the one by the Alderwood mall has a salsa bar that is a joke! Two big bowls on ice. One has watery orange stuff and one has watery green stuff. Neither is hot and both taste the same. Do you know if Gallo De Oro has parking? We got badly lost once in downtown Bothell and it was lunch time. I wanted to stop somewhere and saw several Mexican places but I couldn't find a place to park. I am lousy at street parking and can't walk far. Another place I have wondered about was Frida's in Mill Creek. I remember reading a newspaper article about them when we first moved here that they had the best Mexican food in the area. But I have seen very mixed reviews online. People either loved it or severely hated it. And those that hated it often said they got sick after eating there. They do have an unusal menu though. Oh and by far the worst place I have eaten at (until Qdoba that is) would be Mazatlan. We tried the one in Woodinville and then mistakenly went to the one in Mountlake Terrace not realizing that it was the same place. My parents had eaten there and my dad told me it was horrible but agreed to go back there so I could try it. I realized my mistake immediately when they brought the bean dip with chicken in it. I do not like chicken. The only thing in that whole place that had any flavor whatever was the beans. And it was not a good flavor. I don't know what they seaonsed them with but they used waaay too much of it. And they were runny. The salsa had no flavor either. My dad asked them if they had a hotter sauce? The guy went into the kitchen and came back with a squeeze bottle of something. He didn't know what it was. But we suspected that it was Sirracha (sp?). My dad said that it was blindingly hot but it wasn't a good flavor. Didn't look Mexican. That's for suere. |

I am frightened. Note to self: Cook up a pot of beans each and every week, no matter what! At least I do have a few cans of beans in the house. And I will be eating those for the rest of the week. |

Was disappointed that they'd completely changed the recipe from 350 years ago back in the 70s when I last ate them. The bag looks exactly the same as it did back then except it's now made with modern materials. |

My daughter likes the Taco ones but not very often an not enough to finish the bag. I do remember being invited to a family picnic once some years ago. Of course my family does not cook so my mom picked up some sort of sandwiches from some place. Wasn't Subway but can't remember where. She didn't get any with no meat and I wasn't eating meat. But she said this was okay because there were chips. I reached for a Dorito without looking. It was some sort of flavored one. Ew. They also had Sunchips because they love them but I do not. I guess I'm just not big into chips. Once in while I'll want plain potato chips. Or Fritos. Or some kind of plain Tortilla chip. I'm not necessarily brand loyal when it comes to those but the Dortios do seem a little thicker so they seem to work better for bean dip. |

I won't blame HFCS ... it tasted a lot like the cool ranch flavor except without the red and green colored specks. The bag just has the shiny reflective interior that only astronauts used in the 70s. |

The bags seem to be plastic now. I don't usually have to use scissors but sometimes. In the old days the Frito bags were some kind of foil, at least on the inside. Were the Dorito bags the same? |

Really? I remember those. They were great! I ate a lot of them in college. Can't remember the last time I ate Doritos. Guess I missed their slide into mediocrity. Better not eat any now -- I have my memories, don't want to mess with that. |

Oh, and I liked my Planters peanuts salty and oily. That's gone too. I doubt that F/L lost the recipe. They simply wish they did by today's nutrition standards. I ate tastier fast foods when I was a kid. A bag of greasy Planter's peanuts in a 12 ounce Coke was heaven to me. That's not BS. Snacks were coated, not sprinkled in order to save me from myself. I liked it and I miss it. leo |

We used to eat at Taco Time and would occasionally get food at the drive through there. But after eating there once a week for many weeks on end, I don't think I can get Angela to willingly eat their food again. I really dislike taking food home like that. Would be different perhaps if there was some place to get it that was very near us. But there is not. So by the time such food gets to our house it is cold. And stuff like that doesn't reheat well. |

But daughter was unwilling to eat in there and it was late. Never again. |

Oh she knows that. Frankly I didn't want to eat in there either. It wasn't a pleasant place. |
