I got my husband a $9.95 Tracfon and got double minutes with it. We
only use our phones for emergencies and calling each other. The
Tracfon plans do make you purchase new minutes every 90 days, but they
also carry over any balance left from previous time period. It's
cheap, it's reliable.

When I had one I got yearly plans. You can get as little as I think 300
minutes for that one year, and usually doubled or tripled. Really the
best value if you intend to keep it that long.

And if you have accumulated more minutes than you can reasonably use,
you can keep your account active without buying more minutes. I do
that and they charge my credit card each month.

Heard the Prez is planning on buying these phones to pass out free to his dependent customer base. Guess the Smart Phones proved too expensive.
