Saw an ad for wild salmon in the paper yesterday. $16 a pound! Wow? Could
it really be that good? Or maybe I've just not been noticing prices of
stuff lately.

Try doing an overnight delivery from Alaska. I got some king crab delivered
that way once. Very good stuff but very expensive too.

You can learn about the factors that contribute to retail prices under
the subject heading "economics".

Is that for whole or filets? We have Copper River Sockeye in our local
Fred Meyer for 9.99 whole, 14.99 filet. I did spring for a small piece
last night as the kid was gone and it was just the 2 of us. We grilled
on the Weber- good stuff!

I didn't pay that much attention to the ad. As I remember from the photo
with the ad, it was filet. So evidently this is normal, and I, not a fresh
salmon eater, just never noticed the price before.

I tend to have salmon at least once a week. Given the choice between
farmed Atlantic salmon or wild west coast salmon, I will go for the
latter. I like it a lot more.

That's in the general price range of what I buy every week or two at
Mother's Market & Kitchen. It sure is good!
