Default Marjoram

Hello,

I bought a small jar of dried marjoram but it has no odour that I can detect. Is
that normal? What does it add to dishes?

P.S. I bought it because there's a pasta sauce recipe that I adore that calls
for oregano and "mixed herbs" (all pre-dried), meaning a commercial product
called "Mixed herbs". The ingredients list is thyme, sage, marjoram and "herbs".
I decided to buy the separate herbs in the list to nail down better what each is
contributing to the taste of the sauce.
