Default Charleston Crab Dip

It seems as though there are as many versions of Charleston Crab Dip as
there are restaurants here.

We had a busy day in Charleston today and once we checked in to the hotel,
we did not feel like going out. Instead, we went to the restaurant
downstairs at the Best Western.

One of the appetizers was the above crab dip. It had cream cheese and green
onion as the listed ingredients, but was mostly real crab meat. Tasted
fresh and of crap, not fillers. It was very enjoyable. The rest of the
meal was good too, especially for a hotel restaurant. .

The last few days we've been on the coast, starting in Savannah. Lots of
good seafood is available. Tomorrow, a couple of plantation visits and
start heading back up north again.

I worked at a Best Western. The food was kind of lousy. We had a
banquet one day, and I was about to take the carrots off of the stove
as they were done. The chef then told me to leave them simmer. Why?
Because he wanted them nice and hot. Needless to say, the banqueteers
got some very soft carrots.
I'm not condemning all BW's btw.

I'm sure you meant crab, not crap. LOL.

There's a really nice moderately priced BW Plus just south of
Savannah, in Richmond Hill. Do you have one of their frequent stay
cards?

If you're still in the 'low country' area, try some 'she crab soup' -
it's a delicious, rich, cream-based soup served with an optional dollop
of sherry.

I love she-crab soup. Have made it myself once. Just last weekend there was
some she-crab festival at the beach, only a mile from here. Many
restaurants set up booths and served their version. I didn't go, I heard
about it later in the day.

Did not notice it anywhere, but I'll look for it. Sounds like I'd enjoy it.

Funny, I live 50 miles from where they are made and rarely see them, but
they are all over in South Carolina
