Default OT Update on the little kitty

Yogi saw the vet today. He is between 3 and 4 weeks of age, probably
closer to 4 but less than 4. He has lots of tiny, sharp teeth.

He is healthy. No roundworms. No parasites, some evidence of former
fleas, but no live ones.

The vet gave him some worming meds. She also gave (sold?) us a package
with dry food and some canned food. We are giving him a combination of
dry, wet and kitten milk substitute as well as water.

He is a regular little piggie. Eats almost everything though he has to
get really involved with his food, like climbing into the dish. He
weighed in at 11 ounces (including his little collar).

We will still have to stimulate him to pee. The vet's assistant massaged
a piece of poop out of him. If he doesn't go on his own at least once a
day, we will have to stimulate him to poop. He might be ready for the
litter box in a week or two.

The vet said to leave some of the crunchy baby kitten kibble in his box
so he can get used to the texture. We found him, twice, in the Toy
Poodle's kibble trying to eat it. Thank goodness the Poodle's food is
small pieces. Mickey, the Poodle, came and got us to remove the cat from
his food. I believe he thought the kitten was in distress.

The vet visit cost us $80+ and yesterday's foray to Petsmart was another
$60+. Whoever adopts this little guy will be getting a lot of perks, for
sure. We will have to get him a scratching post and he needs his shots
in 2 weeks. We are hoping the clinic at the shelter can provide them.

Right now he's on my lap investigating a desk top computer and
attempting to eat my watch strap. He is extremely curious. Very alert
and very noisy!

The vet and her assistant as well as the guy at the shelter think he's a
boy. His penis and testicles have not yet appeared, so that could
change, but the consensus is a Yogi and not a Yogini.

As busy as he just was, the little darling has decided to take a cat nap
on my lap. He really knows how to push my kitty-loving buttons. :-)
