Default Farberware $20 mandoline

Freakin' brilliant!

I jes used my Farberware V-blade mandoline I bought at Walmart for $20
(reg price). Didn't want to drag out the FP and needed 2 C sliced
potatoes for au gratin. I can't imagine a $150 SS French mandoline
doing a better job or doing it easier. So sharp and effortless, I
hadda check underneath to make sure it was actually slicing. The thin
is potato-chip thin. Medium is the 1/8" thickness I needed. Haven't
tried the french fry or julienne inserts, yet. It also comes with a
NO CUT insert to prevent you from inadvertently lopping off a
fingertip on the razor sharp V blades when not in use and/or cleaning.
Only gripe is the last 1/4-3/8" heel of spud being spit out by the
safety holder. A minor nit, IMO. Easy clean up with a brush.

The best kitchen tool/deal I've run across in a long time. Highly
recommended!

Get a kevlar-reinforced glove to use with it instead of the hand guard
and it's even better.

I found some on eBay that are designed for kitchen use and serve as
oven mits as well.
