I grew up on a farm in Central Michigan. I can't remember
EVER going out to eat in a restaurant...mostly, because there
wasn't any restaurants around. We ate every meal at home. If we went
somewhere to eat, it would be at either of the Grandma's farms and
that would be for Christmas or Thanksgiving.

My cooking has probably evolved and regressed. There was growing up
cooking, bride, camping, career, retired and now (ta-dah!) senility. This
phase is the most fun. For a Thanksgiving Day grand production for family,
I served banana splits. Everybody had to go to another dinner with the
'other side' of their family but they all showed up here eventually and had
an ice cream treat to their liking. One without banana, one with 3
cherries, one with just chocolate and lots of other variations.
For Christmas evening - once again, we were the last stop of the day - I
taught pizza classes. The teens and twenties didn't even know it was
possible to actually make a fine pizza crust at home. The 6 year-old prefers
Chinese pizza. Now that was a challenge. Polly

Being the last stop has its good points... one of them is they can
stay longer.
