You're welcome.

I don't see that as graceless. I served and yes, you are welcome.

I've got to work tonight, too. There *is* an upside: When you work on a
military installation and you come in to work on a holiday, it's much easier
to find a parking space!

Different country, different holiday: We have Memorial Day to recognize
those who died in service. Veteran's Day simply honors military veterans,
whether alive or dead.

Actually, I was baiting YOU! And you bit on it like a prize gape-mouthed
bass! LOL

Your "service" consisted of bailing out of the military after feigning an
injury so you could defraud your government into paying you a pension.

Cite, please, for your little "well-known" lie. Most people who claim to be
veterans *are* veterans. Only a paranoid moron would think as you do.

I didn't realize Australia's remembrance day was that restrictive. The
Canadian Remembrance Day is celebrated like our [US] Veteran's Day.
All veterans, regardless of when they served or where, are honored.

We honor the dead on Memorial Day in the spring. Hmm-- Do you have
another day that honors all veterans in your autumn?

Yeah, I read how the (US) WW2 and Korean veterans managed to hijack
Armistice Day and turn it into a day for them.

We only have two days. Nov 11 and April 25.

Remembrance Day, and ANZAC day.

Then there are more than a few veteran organisations who have managed to
wangle another 'day' to be promoted as "their day".... mostly Vietnam
veterans.

ANZAC Day is to commemorate the initial landing at Gallipoli during WW1,
but has also become a 'thank you' day with parade for all serving and ex-
serving military.

It is a well know fact that most people who boast about what they did
during their service, actually never did anything.

I know a *lot* of ex-servicemen (and women) and not one of them would even
*think* about giving themselves an Internet ID of "DecoratedVeteran".

One only has to go into an ex-services club and look at all the braggarts
in there drinking and telling anyone who'll listen how they won the war
and what a great combat soldier they were. Until you find out that they
were either cooks, or blanket counters, or truck drivers..... or some such
job that was *far* removed from the front line.

My medals used to come out on those two days mentioned above, when I
attended services/marches etc. Then they went back into the drawer for
another year. But in the last 6 months, I have been promoted at work, and
it's a position that requires me to wear an official dress uniform for
certain functions. And a requirement of that uniform is to wear any medals
awarded, in the form of a ribbon bar. I have managed to avoid any of those
'functions' so far, as I don't feel that I should be made to wear my
Military medals on a civilian (Govt) uniform, because you'll always have
some numbnuts come up and ask what they're for, and where'd you get
them...... and I *really* don't want to talk about it, especially to some
numbnuts who wouldn't even know what it was all about. I just want to get
on with my life.

Problem is, your cite doesn't support your bullshit. There's no denying that
there are people who falsely claim to have served honorably. What YOU
said -- and it was as lie -- was that a person who openly discusses his or
her service is USUALLY A FRAUD. You claim that the frauds are the MAJORITY.
That is a lie, and you are a liar.

You would have us believe that the hundreds or thousands of people who
comprise the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion are mostly
frauds. You would throw shit on the veterans who daily discuss their
experiences in PTSD support groups. You have no concept of service with
honor, and you lack even the tiniest glimmer of integrity. Of course, YOUR
service was pretty much the same as it is today -- in your own words, "head
down, arse up." Oh, and naked.
