It was one of the > only bottled dressings that I didn't mind eating. My mother transcribed this recipe for Green Goddess dressing at a San Francisco restaurant in the 1940's. (The salad probably was first concocted at the Palace Hotel in SF in the 1920's.) Green Goddess Dressing 1/2 cup sour cream 1 cup mayonnaise juice of 1 lemon 1 small can of anchovies, very finely chopped 1/4 cup of parsley, very finely chopped 1/4 cup of green onions w/stems, finely chopped 1 tsp wine vinegar 1 clove crushed garlic 1 hard boiled egg, finely chopped Combine ingredients and mix well. Add to a bowl of washed mixed salad greens such as romaine, escarole, chicory, etc. D.M. |
