Food intolerance in Britain

James Silverton quoted:
>
> "One in five Britons is now labouring under the misapprehension that
> they are suffering from a food allergy"

Misapprehension? Who makes up a food intolerance? There are tons of
people who categorically deny they have any food intolerances without
ever trying an eliminate-and-challenge process to find out if it's
really true, but if 80% of the population doesn't have any intolerances
it's not a completely unreasonable starting point.

But it someone has gone through an elinimate-and-chalenge process to
establish they get symptoms from eating specific foods, calling their
experimental results a misapprehension is a load of crap.

Suffering? I determined by experiment that I am wheat intolerant. If I
avoid wheat I don't suffer, and given the assorted symptoms wheat
triggers in me I don't miss it. I suffer if I *don't* avoid wheat.
