Cathy, I know Botswana is a separate country from RSA, but are you
familiar with "Bush Tea"? It is frequently mentioned in Alexander
McCall Smith's Ladies' Detective Agency series. I've googled, but
found nothing enlightening. Just thought you might be able to satisfy
my curiosity. Thanks!
Ruth

I'm not Cathy, and I'm not in RSA - but I think bush tea = Roibos
tea. It's not technically tea (not camellia senensis), but it tastes
a lot like it, and is caffeine free as far as I understand it.

It's the only non-tea "tea" I like.

Thanks
Michelle

Not Cathy here either, and I'm in the wilds of Northern California. I
know it as "rooibos". Very tasty and, as Michelle says, is
caffeine-free and not actually a tea. I have purchased it, and other
tea stuff, from The Tea Trader in Calgary:
http://teatrader.com/SouthAfrica.html. In addition to the rooibos, I
also like their Imperial Black #10 which *is* a black tea and is
wonderful. No commercial interest, just a satisfied customer for some
years now.

HTH,
TammyM

What Tammy and Michelle said, i.e. rooibos tea. Very popular here too -
except with me. Can't stand the stuff <laugh> Tastes kinda "smoky" to
me.

However, Wiki has some fairly good info on it if you're curious:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooibos_tea

And if you're *really* curious you can buy some on-line at Amazon.com
and try it yourself <g>

My pleasure, Ruth. Only thing is I am one of the few people I know of in
the southern hemisphere who dislikes it - so please don't let my taste
put you off trying it and making up your own mind ;-)
