sure did. ms bev made a batch, using a smoked turkey wing for
flavor. this was for the 2nd annual black retired nurses association
new year's day celebration, of which i am an honorary member. we
also had greens, turkey, ham, mac & cheese, green salad, sweet yams,
peach cobbler and lemon cake; and my contribution of challa type rolls
and the dressing for the turkey.

I don't get. Do retired black nurses have so little in common with
retired White and Hispanic nurses that they need their own organization?

It's nice of you to make all these special black organizations that
exclude all other races. Thank you for keeping racism alive and well.

And the term "black" is so un-PC.

In other words, you have no reasonable answer. Thank you for your response.

the word and concept of reason are not included in your level of
intellect, of which i am assuming to be in the single digit zone. it
it were you would not have posted such a stupid remark. however, i
should not have been surprised at the comment.

just as a rose is a rose is a rose....an asshole is an asshole is an
asshole and even the inclusion of new genetic material cannot change
that.

Not only no, but hell no.
Creamy? Gritty! The texture and taste both suck!

Can't tell I absolutely hate black eyed peas? ;-)

I am not a fan either. My mother made pasta fagioli with black eyed
peas. HATED IT.

It was the grossest looking soup, and everyone loved it except me. I
blame the BEPs.

<lol>
That and mom's Eggplant soup, and her mix of carrots and turnips mashed.
There are some childhood dishes I'd rather permanently forget. <g>

I have no idea what you must have done to black-eyed peas to make them
gritty. I've never had a gritty black-eyed pea.

I've never prepped them myself, just had what others had to offer for a
"good luck" charm for the New Year at parties.

They were always gross. :-(

I guess I need to consider making them myself for once. So many people
are abysmal cooks!

Thing is, even canned ones I've tried have been gritty and nasty.
That's put me off trying to make them myself.

Nah, I think that you just plain don't like the taste of black-eyed peas, so
even if they're made with a texture you find agreeable, you won't like them.
That being said, the black-eyed pea pancake recipe I posted doesn't have
that flavor, so maybe that would be a good one for you to try.

That's not part of my "culture" or my husband's. I never think about
it until someone mentions it here.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

I love most beans, but for some reason, limas and black-eyed peas hit me
wrong.

I'm not a fan of limas either.

I would never say I *like* limas, but those frozen baby limas aren't
too bad.
