How about a corn salad? It can marinate all the way to the party and be
eaten at room temperature. Corn, diced jicama, diced red bell pepper, red
onion, chopped cilantro, lime juice & zest a little olive oil, salt, cumin,
pepper and a shake of hot sauce if you want...Adjust to your taste!

Dessert - peppermint patty brownies - take your favorite brownie recipe,
pour half in the pan, put a layer of peppermint patties on, pour the rest
of the batter on top - bake (add a couple of minutes). Let cool completely
before cutting into squares.

Sounds like it needs something crunchy and something soft alongside...maybe
a macaroni salad and some fireworks slaw (shredded green & purple cabbage,
red peppers, carrrots, purple onion, green onion, and a vinaigrette w/ some
Dijon mustard and Cajun seasoning added). And some soft dinner rolls and
butter.

For dessert, assorted bar cookies (choc. chip blondies, brownies, and some
kind of fruity bar cookie...like the kind where you put the crumbly stuff on
the bottom, spread raspberry jam over it, and add more of the crumbly stuff
as a topping).
