menu suggestion requested

I'm stumped as to what to serve alongside chicken stew with mixed veggies
and topped biscuits for a crowd of 8. Would a spinach gratin be too similar
in texture to the stew? I figure a fruit pie for dessert is in order but
it's the main menu I need help with....

Not sure why you feel you need a side dish. You've got chicken, you've got
veggies, you've got biscuits, you've got dessert. Maybe a salad?

A nice salad would be perfect methinks.

And something to drink... sounds like the kind of menu that screams out for
Mountain Dew... I really like a Big Red n' vodka.

Why do you need any green vegetable as a side dish?
Chicken stew over boiled white rice or egg noodles
with a salad is a substantial meal.

Why even bother with white rice or noodles? Already got a starch (biscuit
topping). Just throw in a salad for anyone who wants some and (as Sheldon
said) something to drink. Got a meal already.

Salad it is then. That certainly will keep it simple and stress-free. Aren't
those meals usually the most enjoyable. Thanks everyone.

I don't know what a Big Red is, but I'll be sure to look it up. I hadn't
even thought of drinking anything other than soda or wine but there's Sea
Dog BluePaw Blueberry Wheat Ale in the fridge I think will be just great
with the meal.
