Aleppo pepper
Ground chipotle Juniper berries Almond extract Ground anise seed Lemon peel Free sample of lemon pepper Tonight I made a pound cake, using the almond extract and my new Kitchenaid Professional 6 stand mixer (cobalt blue). I spaced out, though, and thought "tube pan" specified in the recipe meant "loaf pan." I realised my mistake when the batter blooped over the top of the pan onto the bottom of the oven! I cleaned up the mess, trimmed the edges of the cake, placed the LOAF pan (note to self) on a baking sheet, and finished the cake. It turned out a little overdone, but delicious nevertheless. Here are a few ideas of how I want to use the spices: chipotle mayonnaise for sandwiches; aleppo pepper for meats (kebabs?); juniper berries in sauerkraut; almond, anise and lemon peel in baking.
