Default Fruit (flesh) of the walnut? Any use?

We have seven large American black walnut trees on our farm. The husk
were once used by colonist to make a fabric dye.A woman who makes woven
baskets, uses the hulls (when they turn dark),as a basket dye. When
handling the husk,be aware that the stain can be difficult to wash off
your hands. They are very popular with the squirrels.
