I like tastings. The wine tasting party comes to mind first with
several bottles of wine, good bread, a little cheese, maybe some
appetizers and a real chance to taste the wines and compare.

A cheese tasting party comes to mind next. Also consider several types
of olive oil or good vinegar. I'd love any of those parties. One of
the most intriguing tasting parties I've ever been to was in a small
rural town in Ontario where they grew strawberries. The tourists (me
and my boyfriend) were treated to 6 varieties of strawberries. These
all looked alike to me, and if I didn't have them next to each other, I
would have said they tasted alike too. Instead, I got to try them right
next to each other and understand for the first time that some are a
little sweeter, some a little tarter, that there are subtle differences
in texture and wateriness. Meanwhile, I was getting my fill of fresh
strawberries, something that's hard to do since I'll gladly eat them all
day.
