Default Food processor/chopper mincing, chopping?

Hello,

What is the difference between a food chopper and a food processor?

I want to chop vegetables into approximately 1" size pieces, and also to
mince garlic. Will a processor or chopper do these things?

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim!

Both will chop and mince. The big difference is their sizes.

A food *chopper* is usually cylindrical in shape and the bottom
has a round base that is 3-5 inches in diameter. Therefore,
depending upon what you're chopping, you may need to manually cut
the item once or twice before you can use the chopper.

A food *processor* has a larger base with a mini-tower built into
the center of it so that you can interchange different cutting
and grating attachments. A lot of these also tend to have a food
chute - an opening at the top of the unit to make feeding items
into it easier and/or so that you can continuously add items
without having to stop the motor and remove the lid for each
addition of items.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks! I thought in a food processor, you put a bunch of veggies in a
bowl, then a spinning blade cuts them up. That's not true? Then I
can't imaging how it minces...?

Thanks!!

Jim
