Buttered Toast Turkey Dressing?
I once went to a Thanksgiving pot luck lunch event at a past job where one lady
brought a turkey dressing made entirely of toasted white bread, cut into cubes in melted butter and lots of seasonings, and baked in a casserole dish. No onions or celery, although it was likely seasoned with onion salt and or celery salt, not to mention poultry seasoning. It was delicious, and when I asked her for the recipe, she refused to give it out, saying it was a "secret family recipe". Has anybody ever heard of such an unusual recipe? Michael O'Connor - Modern Renaissance Man "The likelihood of one individual being correct increases in a direct proportion to the intensity with which others try to prove him wrong" James Mason from the movie "Heaven Can Wait". |

But, if it is really just bread, butter, and seasonings, then it would be fairly easy to duplicate. It might take a few try's. I suspect that it also had some canned chicken stock. For seasonings, I would try some poultry seasoning and maybe some commercial seasoning salt like Lowry's. Maybe she is embarrassed to tell you that she made it from Wonder Bread, canned soup, and Mrs. Dash. |

Not to be served on the side, but to be stuffed into a bird. I'm thinking back to Frontier House (a PBS Series) where they had next to nothing to work with. This would probably have been a great stuffing on the Prairie. Jill |
