We have a winnah!

I'd like to thank Royal Caribbean for putting me on hold so I had the
time to scan RFC.

Please help yourself to a TFH. ;-)

I missed it <sigh - sometimes RL intervenes>... but it sounds like y'all
had a lot of fun and some great food was made. I'm planning on doing
the dish I chose tonight *if* all goes according to plan i.e. the
approaching thunderstorm doesn't knock out the power (again).

Where are you going and which ship are you taking? The crew on Legend
of the Seas was trained to perfection.

I was on the line waiting for their Tech Support department. I sell
cruises....
http://www.CruiseMaster.com or http://cruisemaster.typepad.com/my_weblog/

We have been invited for a two night "industry only" cruise on the Oasis
of the Seas on November 20. Even though it is a freebie, I'm not sure we
are going to be able to make it. We are going on a 7 night on the
Caribbean Princess sailing out of San Juan in January.

I met people who have booked for January on Oasis of the Seas. It
sounds monstrous! I heard the ship has an indoor park. I looked at
pictures of two story suites. Oh, man - how luxurious and I bet it's
very pricey too.

Sounds relaxing. I like the concept of family suites. Do many lines
do that?

Nope. Royal Caribbean has some good Family Suites on their bigger ships
and NCL has some really luxurious ones, but the service and food on NCL
leaves a lot to be desired. Some ships have cabins they call "Family"
this and that, but they are really just glorified standard cabins.

The "Presidential Family Suite" on the Oasis can hold up to 14
people.... and they all need deep pockets to pay for this!

I sorta participated... Cooked two excellent recipes. I'll post them
with my alterations and pics once I get a new camera that will use this
card, hopefully anyway. :-(

I stayed on chat for awhile and got stuff started, then crapped out due
to lack of sleep. Went back to sleep and did not wake up until about
23:30. I think I actually slept a full 4 hours! I needed it.

The recipes both turned out good and I'd classify one as fantastic and
will be a do-over for sure!

Good! For me, finally saw the Doc today. First time in 26 years with a
civilian Doc. Instead of just getting refills and being shuffled off on my
way, got referrals and real treatment. Interesting. Off to a regular otho
with a morning call to validate the referral.

Good! I hope you get the help you need. :-)
It's not always easy... Keep us updated please.

Gods I hate MRI's! Claustrophobic me spent a solid hour in the tube this
afternoon. :-P And you do have to hold still for most of it!

Now waiting on Tricare. 7-10 days and will have letter with authorization
number. Doc wanted it in 3 but picked the wrong person to refer to and they
don't do that without the number at that site. Lol, tricare will provide
the number with a time/date of appointment but place wont provide a
time/date without the number first.

For those in favor of 'National health care' take note, it's certainly
better than none, but it's not like a well managed HMO. In a well managed
HMO, an emergency referral will *happen*. Under Tricare, they carefully
made sure i knew where the emergency room was and how to dial 911 if i can't
get in and it gets bad fast before the appointment can be made. Oh well.
It appears to be slowly healing with proper use of the robaxin ands careful
use of tramadol.

Don't worry, the tramadol is used very sparingly. It's a bottle of 30 from
Nov 2008. Have first refill since then. I take it only *as needed* as am a
long term sort and that stuff can be real bad if mis-used over a long time.

Agreed about the HMO, but those of us who currently have health
insurance and are pro national health care are not looking at it for
others, not ourselves. We are appalled at the number of people who
don't have any health coverage.

Don't knock it. I've been tempted to ask my primary care doc for
Oxycontin as I'm tired of not being able to sleep. ;-) The MRI revealed
a full tear of one of the rotator cuff tendons. That ain't gonna heal on
it's own, and I can NOT take time off from work for surgery until at
least February...

Lighting a candle for you dear! At least what I have is only
debilitating, not life threatening!

Man!! What a screwed system!!

Here, if you want to see an ortho, you go to your local GP and say, "Give
me a referral to such-and-such Specialist."

He writes out a referral letter and either rings up and makes an
appoinment for you, or you do it yourself.

You turn up at the ortho appointment with the letter, and away you go!!

If you need some extras, let me know. I have plenty here from a couple of
months ago that I'll never use again. Tramadol made me feel like I was
seasick all the time...... which probaly wouldn't be any big deal for
you!! :-)

I started on the 150mg and when they had no effect, the doc put me on the
200mg.

Oh wow. That's quite a meal! I like the Bundt cake mold. :-)

I only spent about 4 hours, excluding the little bit of shopping I did
for it.

I only did two recipes. I added a side dish of steamed asparagus as I
got some on sale.

As the Taster In Chief... I can tell you it was all delicious.

The broccoli salad was so good that the PA Amish would be proud to claim
it for their own.

The pound cake was very good. Since I try to avoid white flour, I only
had a taste and it was hard to stop eating.

The chili recipe was good. No good Texan would ever put beans in their
chili so Becca left them out. Becca's own chili is so good that this
recipe was a small step down but it was a good dish and I can't imagine
anyone not enjoying it.

Since I can't have flour, Becca also made some gluten-free cornbread in
her cast iron skillet which was excellent as usual.

Other than helping consume the results, my main contribution was staying
out of Becca's way. The next time there is one of these deals, I may
jump in.

Oh, sorry! Are you gluten intolerant? My soon to be DIL discovered
that intolerance herself recently and has discovered since then that
although it's best to avoid it, she can indulge every now and then w/o
too much repercussion.

Isn't that pure southern style cornbread? I used to make it that way,
but I prefer some flour and a little sugar in mine.

Oh that would be great! I don't know if nb's bake-along or the
booze-along (a proper holiday event) will be next. You won't be tied
to the kitchen for the booze along unless you make something like
eggnog (or hot buttered rum).
