Default Strange combination

I had just finished cutting up an onion for chicken soup
when I made a quick lunch--half a peanut butter and banana
sandwich. I licked s dab of peanut butter off my finger that
still had traces of onion on it and it tasted of interesting.
It made me want Thai noodles with peanut sauce.

Gloria -

Sounds interesting... more details and research? I have both PB and
onions. Can you provide a warm and fuzzy story for me to try?

I don't want people to just point and laugh at me. Well, to be honest,
they do that now.

But I'd like to give them an actual reason I knew about a head of time
for a change.

Skip the tomato, and add some braunschweiger and I would join you.
Actually I normally use mustard in that config, but I am not snooty.
Just don't try make me use ketchup.

What's odd about that? I have one fairly often. I consider them to be
a lot more reasonable than peanut butter and grape jelly which a
cousin used to eat <shudder>.

Nothing strange about that, to me. A childhood favorite is peanut
butter and tomato sandwiches. If there is no onion, might as well
forget it. What's the point? A little salt and some pepper. Serve
with potato chips.

Thanks Dan... I never know when the next inspiration will come from. PB,
onion, tomato, butter and S&P, That is not something I would likely
consider.

I do however currently have a fondness for peanut butter and Mayo. :-)

Have a nice night,

As good as that sounds Wayne, I think I'd prefer the burger raw.

Hey Mr Pid, how is that a strange combination? Where's the PB?

Ooh, if you're right I think Oprah might want to interview me
about it. This could be worth a LOT of money!

I don't recall craving Thai noodles during my previous
pregnancies, but they may not even have been invented then....

I'd use chile-garlic sauce in place of the onions.

Spicy.

I have yet to find the nerve to cook with peanut butter... It just
sounds so wrong, but seems to be common in some asian foods.

<Argh> My sister and mom used to eat peanut butter with mayo and
lettuce. They could never get me to try it.

Talk about a lipid overload! <g>

I don't worry overly much about fat in my diet, but don't go out of my
way to eat a lot of it either. I avoid peanut butter like the plague
even tho' I really do like peanut butter by itself, with jelly or with
butter.

I used to add it to omnivorous baby bird food formulas (for birds such
as blue jays, blackbirds and starlings) when I had very active babies
that were failing to thrive just to add extra calories to their diet.

Fattened them up nicely every time and they liked it. :-)

I learned a lot from doing wildlife rescue volunteer work...

Including just how really caloric and fattening peanut butter was!

I like a peanut butter sandwich with very thin slices of a sweet
onion, usually Texas sweet or Vidalia....our local Spanish onions have
become very strong over the years and I don't care for them any
more...Sharon in "onion growing country" in Canada

I don't think that's terribly strange! My mom used to eat thinly
sliced Bermuda onion and strawberry jam on homemade white bread. This
was also the same mom who made a sandwich spread with peanut butter,
Velveeta cheese and sweet pickle relish. (I still make that
occasionally! Does that mean I'll be drummed out of RFC? )

Lynn - I think the concept of trying strawberry jam with onion a really
worthwhile thing to try, that I have not considered. Next time I have
the jam, I will try it.

Since I do sincerely dislike the Velveeta, I'll ignore the rest ;-)
