France. Brigitte Bardot urges Canada syrup boycott

Canwest News Service September 25, 2009

French film legend Brigitte Bardot renewed her protest of Canada's
commercial seal hunt Thursday by calling for a boycott of Canadian maple
syrup. "Massive ethical reactions from consumers can sometimes convince a
government or a corporation to change the way that it does business,"
Bardot wrote on the website of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA). Canada's maple syrup industry, based largely in Quebec, produces an
estimated 70 to 85 per cent of the world's supply. It has no direct links
to Canada's annual seal hunt, but PETA said it is a fair target.

I especially enjoyed the reference of PETA funding a group whose leader is a
confirmed Arsonist. He admitted in court to fire bombing an animal testing lab
and numerous others, were there animals in the labs at the time of the fires?

ffu,

I was glad that Penn & Teller rebuked PETA in the shocking fashion they did.
Catching PETA with their hypocritical pants down was a masterstroke, imho.

It might have been if all the info on P&T wasn't ancient. Even the
killing of animals by peta has been public knowledge for years.

nb,

Years old public knowledge doesn't reach the public if they don't hunt it
down!

Once in awhile, a rock solid in-your-face reminder doesn't hurt!!!

Yeah, like the P&T show on a network that charges an extra $10 to
subscribe to. That's certainly a readily available "reminder".
