France. Brigitte Bardot urges Canada syrup boycott
Canwest News Service September 25, 2009 French film legend Brigitte Bardot renewed her protest of Canada's commercial seal hunt Thursday by calling for a boycott of Canadian maple syrup. "Massive ethical reactions from consumers can sometimes convince a government or a corporation to change the way that it does business," Bardot wrote on the website of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Canada's maple syrup industry, based largely in Quebec, produces an estimated 70 to 85 per cent of the world's supply. It has no direct links to Canada's annual seal hunt, but PETA said it is a fair target. ---- Oh...snap! Bwahahaha! -- Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone. - John Maynard Keynes |
