Where to take Obama for lunch?
President Obama comes to Philadelphia today and the Fox morning news talking heads asked viewers to recommend a place for him to eat. Lots of typical favorites but what made me laugh was the high occurance of "Friendly's," a regional "howard johnsons" type low-class restaurant. Why he wouldn't want a couple dozen $100 Philly cheesesteaks is beyond me! ![]() Andy -- I'm no longer a danger to society. |

The two couldn't be more different, especially in the first decades they existed. Fox carried The Simpsons, Married With Children, MadTV, Ally McBeal, etc. All the while Rupert Murdoch was using those profits to establish NewsCorp, a nasty, Right-wing news network. Fox had the best shows throughout the 90s. If you haven't seen this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit_(TV_series) I double dog dare you. We own the DVD set. > > aloha, > Cea --Bryan |

Fox has some really good dedicated news programs, during last year's election they eventually became my main source of teevee nooze (FWIW). I mean, they regularly had on left - leaning people like Bernie Sanders, Maxine Waters, various Dem operatives and honchoes, etc., so a pretty entertaining ideological spread. CNN is just generally so white bread and bland... Of course Fox has lotsa silly shit like Glenn Beck or whoever, but that is strictly entertainment, like Limbaugh, etc.... If you are more left - leaning there is always MSNBC, I regularly watch Keith Olberman and Rachel Madow. They have their biases, too, just realize that. They can get as silly with the right wing - bashing as their counterparts on Fox do bashing the left... And although not strictly "news", Bill Maher has on guests from all over the ideological spectrum, it can get pretty lively, besides being though - provoking... And I sometimes listen to Ron Reagan, Jr. on Air America, he has developed into a very good radio host and commentator... -- Best Greg |

You really are filled with vitriolic hatred of those you imagine your alleged superiority over to equate someone watching Fox news with a soul less person who would herd others to their death. Here is a clue for you. Not everyone mindlessly obeys an ideology like you have demonstrated and therefore would be different than can you imagine because they could consider multiple viewpoints. > > --Bryan |

Because of his busy schedule, President Obama didn't step out for a meal
during his brief visit. He didn't even stay for the $10,000/plate dinner, only the $1,000/per person reception. His visit to Philly was to drum up contributions for PA senator Arlen Specter's re-election campaign fund. Oh well, maybe next time. Andy |

Are you saying Obama made only one speech, or are you speaking of a different President? I'm about as equal opportunity basher as it gets (between Obama and Bush I see neither being Presidential material, albiet both are equally Politico) and I haven't noticed where Fox has missed broadcasting any of Obama's speeches and he makes at least one speech every day, often two and three. I surf between at least a half dozen news channels and they're all prejudicial... I don't consider any of them News anymore, they'e all silly talk shows... they can't even report the weather without bias anymore. News Anchors today are no different than Imus in temperment. Anyone who thinks any one News show is more or less prejudicial than another is who's prejudiced. Bush screwed up by missing every opportunity to wipe out our muslim enemies, his actions were way wussier than his mouth. But Bush had not a whit to do with screwing up our economy, the people did that to themselves all by themselves[period] Obama is also in way over his head, he hasn't a clue how to proceed on the international front, especially in the war on terror, and is even less capable of repairing an economy that by his actions alone placed it into irreversable death throes... any five year old knows that you can't damage control debt by creating more debt (if your neighbors owed you money for years and made no effort to repay would you continue to lend them more). Obama is either totally inept or he has an evil-doer agenda... he's doing everything possible to bankrupt the country and destroy its will. Our children will never see the America I lived, America at its best. >Did they miss any of Bush's speeches in the 8 years he held >> >> office? *This makes me just a little skeptical of what I hear on Fox. >> >> > Maybe your son is the sort who would have blindly herded Jews onto >> > trains headed for death camps, had he not a parent who cautioned him >> > against evil. >> >> You really are filled with vitriolic hatred of those you imagine your >> alleged superiority over to equate someone watching Fox news with a soul >> less person who would herd others to their death. >> >Deny safe neighborhoods, decent nutrition and access to the medical >care you take for granted to poor children so you can keep more of >your "earned" money. Methinks we should return to those days and there would be a lot more decorum in the House. |
