I'm going to donate this one to Cathy, as she doesn't get a chance to give

My "MCINL" is When the same topics are brought up by the same people and the
resulting responses are always the same arguments.

If it's about food or cooking, an oft-repeated topic may mean new
people in the group, which is usually a good thing.

I find that I skip threads and posts much more often because of the
poster than I do because of the topic. There's always the chance that
a thread about how to peel hard cooked eggs will drift to something
interesting, while there's virtually no chance that (---) or (---) or
(---) will ever post something I want to read. -aem

Ahem. You're right, I did - but in mitigation, I was trying to keep the
survey (sort of) food related... ;-)

Anyway - seeing as how it's too late for me to add more questions to the
current survey shall we do another [informal] poll?

Does thread drift annoy you?

Yes
No
Maybe
Depends on my mood
Depends whether the thread drift in question interests me or not
Depends who initiated the thread drift
MCINL

[I'm sure we've had a similar survey (or surveys) about this before -
but we are discussing 'Not *that* again' stuff so why the heck not?]

How do you feel about OT posts (i.e. those that are actually marked as
OT, not thread drift)

I filter out any posts marked OT in the subject line, so they don't even
put a blip on my Usenet radar
They annoy me intensely, but I read them anyway
If they interest me, I'll read them and even respond to them - as is my
gawdgivenUsenetright
Depends who started the thread
I love 'em, so stop yer whining...

Perfectly put and to the point. <giggles>
One of the things I seriously love about usenet is that it's mostly an

(laugh) You could never cover every thread that annoys. There's
something for everyone. I was just pointing that out, people who
are annoyed by one thread are often big contributers to other
annoying threads, myself included in that. Rocks/glass houses/all that.

I had just finished deleting the entire cilantro thread when I came
across your survey, so I can say for sure... it's soapy tasting
cilantro threads. If the thread continues at the current pace, I'll
kill it instead of continued deleting - which tells you how bored I am
