Yesterday I was at Costco buying buying supplies for our office.
Once of the items that I get is coffee. Usually, I buy maxwell house in
the 48 oz containers. This time I noticed that the cans which used to be
48 oz are now 42.5. Still the same price as as 48oz, just less coffee...

Yet another example of shrink...

Cheezits. A staple of my childhood. I rarely buy them, but when I saw the
tiny box (still sold at full price) I was amazed. They really do think we're
stupid.

They did that with Triskets too....
Being a huge coffee drinker, I pay attention to coffee prices and
quantities. And the main reason that I bought at Costco was that you
could by the 48 oz cans. I guess I was just sort of shocked that that a
warehouse club like Costco would break down and start following the
"let's charge the same for less" trend... *sigh*
Yet another thing to avoid buying...

If I'm drinking it, I perfer the Starbucks French Roast from Costco, 1
kilo bag for $21, got on sale last week $3 off

Different Costcos sell different brands of coffee. Starbucks is nearly
twice the price of the others.

Your point? I haven't found a coffee comparable, I will pay more for a
good cupa. Maxwell house is cheap at costco, and the flavor is next to
none existant.

Here at our office we have a coffee club, those of us who drink it
pitch in a few bucks each every month, so we tend to buy the less
expensive...
When costco has a sale where a 48 oz can is like $6 buck, I buy a
4-6 month supply...

Have you tried the 8 O'clock brand French roast. I drank it for years and
Costco sells it pretty cheap. I still keep a bag on hand in case I run out
of the fair trade coffee I've been drinking as my main brew. It's
Thanksgiving coffee company's 'Marbly Star' French roast. Really good stuff.

We order a few bags from our temple every month but some months it's harder
to wake up than others. :-)

CostCo doesn't back down easily. They intimidate their suppliers as
much as possible to keep costs low, but I guess they couldn't find a
better deal on coffee of the same quality you buy with that brand.

I noticed that last week when buying a carton of Tropicana light orange
juice beverage. The normal 62 ounce carton looked narrow and when I
checked it appears to have been shrunken to 59 ounces.

Sheeze, ok, so they started out at 64 oz, then dropped down to 62 oz
and now it's 59? And let me guess, still the same price as the larger size?

Wow, yours are still over 40 oz? The markets I shop, the three pound
can has been under 40 oz. for years. You are lucky now if they still
over 30.

Even the poor defenseless kitties are victims. I was buying the 18 lb
bag of Purina Cat Chow (should be 20, probably) and the last one I got
was down to 16 lb. Same price, of course.
