OK, Sweetpea, how much was donated to Second Harvest from sales of the
2002 rfc recipe book? I've no doubt that you have a record of (and likely a picture of the check I posted on my website) the exact amount that was sent to Second Harvest. The first printing was about 400; the second printing 300, from what I could dig up with Google's advanced group search. My search skills suck. I'm sure the amount was posted to the group. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://web.me.com/barbschaller "What you say about someone else says more about you than it does about the other person." |

We were all stunned and thrilled by the amount, Blake. I think, going into it, most of us expected that the donation would be a few (several?) hundred dollars or maybe $1-2K. I don't think any of us dreamed of $5K. There was great joy in Mudville when Victor or Nancy or whomever made the announcement of the total. There was an *enormous* amount of work that went into the project *after* the recipes were submitted and, in fact, *after* the first proof copy was made. It turned out pretty darned good for what it is. Had the book been assembled exactly as the recipes had been submitted, it would have been a POS not worth the paper it was printed on. It would have been an embarrassment to the group. Victor *was* the driving force, IMNSHO, who made sure that a high quality product was delivered in a timely fashion. (Sorry to embarrass you, Bubba Vic, but it's true.) I can think of only a couple people currently posting who could, in my opinion, do the same in the same way (he stuck to the business at hand). Want to edit a cookbook, Blake? Fortunately, you have enough hair to pull out that there's still be some left when the job was done. Almost all of the recipes are winners and some are extra special winners. Dimitri |

I was - reluctantly, initially at least - taking a part in a project, into which I was plunged by the circumstances, so to say. Lots of people took a part in that project - those particularly involved are listed in the introduction. That is all there is to it. Bubba Vic |

Ditto moi. Only it was Damsel who emailed me, NOT the Spitzbubba. Carol cares; Spitz does not. Thanks Dams! TammyM |

By the way, your name figured prominently in the first draft of the cook.book introduction, as one of the early shipping volunteers. When a second call for volunteers was issued, you were nowhere to be found - and I gleefully deleted your name! Careless Spitz |
