Default Sick and tired

....of being sick and tired.

Getting over a UTI, but the cipro that's kicking the infection's ass
makes me nauseous and headachey. It's been so cold and dry that I'm
having nose bleeds, there's not enough body lotion in the world to keep
me from itching, and, to add insult to injury, it makes my hair frizz.

Scully's got a bladder infection, too (how's that for weird?), Zane is
ticking like a time bomb for lack of exercise and Cooper has already
gotten his ass kicked twice this week for following Zane around making
rude subvocal noises and eyeballing. He has short man's syndrome (and
possibly a death wish). I'd say hah, serves you right except both times
he peed all over himself and had to have a bath.

I need it to be spring, goddamnit! I want to sink my hands into warm
dirt and pat mulch around tomato plants. I want the aroma of new mown
grass in my nose as I push the mower for the first time over the
frost-heaved sod. I want the sun on my shoulders and the smell of
coconut oil. I want to go to bed with wet hair and wake up with ringlets.

Is that really so much to ask?

And, barring that, could I at least have some cheese and crackers with
my whine?

I suspect that someone in a warmer climate would welcome the help, Kathleen,
and they might even let you sleep in the garage.

Please let your doctor know about those side-effects. Especially the
itching. You may be allergic to Cipro. Crash is.

Those all seem like reasonable requests to me.

I will e-mail you some Gouda and Town House crackers. Is that gouda
for you?

I think I missed something here--is Cooper a husband or dog?

Dog.

I'll admit to being a height/brain bigot when it comes to spouses.
Dinky dumbasses need not apply, no positions currently available,
applications will be kept on file for 1 year.

Yeah, this is getting old. 25 below zero yesterday with wind chill.
At least we'll get some melting this weekend.

It's weird that my Bradford Pears didn't lose their leaves this year.

For me after several days on Cipro everything starts to taste bad.

I find brushing ones tongue helps greatly.

Yeah. And I called the office and they're like, "Are you experiencing
shortness of breath or hives?"

"Well, no. I just throw up every so often, especially when I try to
brush my teeth, everything tastes like ass, and I've had a headache for
four days."

"Oh, well then, that's pretty much normal, you've only got another day
and a half of the med, just stay with it."

I don't have a UTI but a severe cold/bronchitis - for the third time this
winter season. Damm - and it's my birthday. 4th year in a row I've been
sick on my birthday.

That sounds right Cipro is a pretty powerful antibiotic.

When you're done you might think about or ask your doctor having some live
culture yoghurt to re-establish your natural flora.

That is what I had a few weeks ago. It was never really bad, but it
lingered. Then my wife got it, and hers was a lot worse than mine.

Dang. I had a nasty cold and thought I was in the clear ... then
I immediately came down with bronchitis. I finally went to the
doctor for antibiotics. This stuff lingers, and enough is enough.

Didn't know everyone was sick with the same crud.

Yes! Check out the allergy to Cipro (sulfa). I didn't discover my
allergy to sulfa drugs until I was over thirty. I took Cipro for ten
days and the UTI went away but I just got sicker and sicker until I
felt like I had acid in my blood vessels and I broke out in hives -
everywhere. Including the inside of my mouth. My doctor wouldn't let
me give - administer it to my daughter a couple of years later!
Check it out. Cortisone will help but the more Cipro you've taken, the
sicker you'll get.

Thank you! I think I might not sleep in a recliner tonight for
the first time in over a week, so I think I've turned the corner.

Man, it hit the 20s today, again. It's been a very cold winter.

There is no relationship between Cipro and sulfa. Cipro is a
cephalexin and sulfa is a sulfonamide.

That is not to say you cannot be allergic to both.

There is a higher incidence of allergy to cephalexins if penicillin
allergy is present, though.

A friend sent me an email with a picture of a global warming protest
....hundreds of little snowmen :-)

This has been a very cold and snowy winter for us. We don't usually have
snow on the ground for more than a few weeks. It comes and then melts
away. It started snowing just before Christmas and it has snowed almost
every day since then, and it hasn't melted much. It is still up to my
knees in the back yard. It is supposed to warm up this weekend. I
suppose that will just cause a lot of flooding.

We've had maybe 10 days of frigid weather all winter but
an incredible number in the 60s and 70s in the Denver area.
But winter isn't over reliably here until late May.

Lots of snow in the mountains just 90 miles away, however.

Great idea!

My lawn very badly needs mowing. They're forecasting 42C (about 108F) for
Saturday and 44C (111F) for Sunday.

Just let me know which day you'll be arriving so I can blow up the air
mattress for you (it's a queen size!).... :-)

A good therapist might be able to help you figure out why you're sick on
your birthday. It should be a time of celebration.

Have some chicken soup. A lit candle in it would probably be
extinguished, though, unless there was a layer of chicken fat on top of
soup, in which case you might wind up with singed nose hairs.

Only if I can bring my dogs. But, if you have your garden site laid
out, I can show them the area, tell them "NO DIGGING" and you won't even
have to rent a rototiller.

A layer of vermouth on top might be nice as well. Soup de poulette
flambe!

Tracking this stuff down is sometimes hard. My BIL (wife's sister's
husband) always got sick on vacation. This happened for years. They
usually went camping, so he figured it was something about that. He
finally had a long talk with his sister, who has problems with wheat (or
maybe gluten), and she suggested a food problem. Well, he didn't eat
anything different. They kept talking, and he finally realized that the
only time he drank beer was on vacation! So he gave up beer, and he
wasn't sick on vacation anymore!

Well this year and last it has been bronchitis - and I am one of many in the
area who is struggling. The year before it was an allergic reaction to a
prescribed medication. The previous year, I was struggling after what was
initially diagnosed as a mini stroke (but never proved).

I'm doing better today. Trouble mainly with breathing!!

The vermouth would never make it to the soup. I do like cooking with wine -
sometimes I even put it in the food. (thank you Julia Childs)

He's been pretty right this winter. We've had quite a few days
when it reached 70.

Evidently he doesn't send you photos of the blizzards we get in
"upslope" conditions.

Those storms circle around and come from the southeast, picking
up loads of moisture from the Gulf. The storm system slams into the
foothills and stays around for days because it doesn't have the force to
climb up the mountains. Those are the ones that bring 3 to 4 feet of
snow. We get in weather patterns when we get 2 or 3 of those in a year,
then nothing for a while. The last big one was last spring. There was
a huge one in March 2003 and a few days before Christmas 2006.

Remind your friend "it ain't all beer and skittles" living here.

LOL. My yard is a jungle so that would be very helpful in getting all the
weeds out :-) Shame about the quarantine restrictions :-(

Seriously though, don't think there'll be many dogs running around and
digging anything today. Too damn hot.
