I believe they lack flavor for the same reason most industrial tomatoes
do. That is because they aren't ripe when the vine & tomato are clipped
off. And as you noted later it is largely a scam to make people think
they are somehow different because there is a segment of vine attached.

Thats we we do. We grow tomatoes but when they are done we get vine
ripened cherry tomatoes that are grown by regional Amish farmers. They
actually taste like tomatoes.

Truss tomatos are vine ripened.

They are a *lot* tastier than the normal run of the mill, ripened in
storage after being gassed so that they can be stored for 6 months,
supermarket elcheapo tomatos.

One friend couldn't attend last night, and phoned in her apologies, and
asked if I could do up a 'care package' for her as she couldn't get
here..... and she didn't want to miss out on my curries!!
