I'm already beginning to understand the value of kill files in this
group.

I've started adding ID's... no doubt there'll be more soon enough...
not least because of the multitude of morphs and fake addies they use.

Anyone wanting to make sure I'm 'me' can visit the 'Australian
Opinion' forum. We're a bit boring but there're no trolls there!

Yet... !!! :)

My kill file has more than eighty addresses in it just for this

I cleared mine when I upgraded Agent last year but it's rapidly
accumulating names... and nearly *all* of them are from here!! :)

I automatically mark all webtv posts as read so it's easier to ignore them,
but they're not deleted. There are a couple dozen Subject-line keywords
which get auto-deleted. I thought I only auto-deleted a few posters, but I
just checked and I'm auto-deleting 40 of them. I guess it adds up over the
years!

And since I had the killfile open, based on the pleas of many, I'm now
auto-deleting *41* posters.

I mostly killfile subjects/threads rather than people.
There are a couple of exceptions. ;-)

You can also killfile subjects, or parts of subjects. You can also killfile
a nymshifting troll that constantly changes his email or other headers to
dodge killfiles, but always keeps the same handle. I did that to an
obnoxious guy in another group who DARED me to killfile him. He doesn't
have a clue, because I ain't about to advertise to him that I never see him
any more.

Xnews is wonderful.

Oh, come on Michael any good news reader ignores authors and subjects.
The fancier ones can ignore subthreads and entire domains.

If your kill file really is years old, maybe it's time to prune or
just delete the entire thing and rebuild. I bet many (more than you
think) of your filters are out of date by now.

RFC has been a kf goldmine in the last week or so. Everyone was
almost too well behaved before Thanksgiving weekend but now they're on
a downhill slide... probably to Christmas. It's not a good time for
newbies to visit.

I'm just saying that if his Kill File years old, it's time to prune
because the deadwood is slowing down the KF process. Nobody normal
will "plead" to be released from a KF, because most (if not all) are
happy to be included. Most of the kill filed have gone away or
changed posting names by this time anyway.

I see mine clicking them off one by one. It takes some time as it searches

It depends on your reader program. I can block a particular sender in
Outlook Express as one of the Tools options after clicking on the post.
OE has the ability to set up some fairly simple rules to delete posts.
Both of these actions constitute "kill-filing" or "plonking" to me.

Yes, Nancy Y. pointed that out. Since I cannot se ANY of his posts unless
you or someone else quotes him, I of course could not see the entire post.

I am still smiling at the thought of crowds pleading with Bob to killfile

Seems you been swapping spit with a lotta scrambbled brained rfc'ers,
eh... why don't yoose perform tribadism on the Mick 's vulva face.

Same reason you don't killfile me and no one else does (they all lie),

Oh, blake's ****tard decided to pop in and shit on the group! What a
SURPRISE!

I guess it depends on how you define "many." The people who publicly urged
me to killfile blake's ****tard include Dan Abel (who made the
recommendation some months ago), sf, and Christine. You can probably find
others by Googling, assuming the Google Groups search function ever starts
working again.

Well, I *did* review the list prior to posting about it, and didn't see any
that I want to remove. Who knows whether Chung or bigbadbarry will come
back? (I'm sure blake's ****tard remembers bigbadbarry. blake is his
replacement.) And I had persent killfiled already, so I had no idea he had
been posting here until Lin told me. I don't have any speed problems with my
Usenet access, so if it's being slowed down, the slowing is negligible.

blake's ****tard doesn't realize that 41 is MORE than 40. It's stupid like
that.

Ellie's using webtv. I'm pretty certain that there's no killfile available
for webtv.

I for one would *never* killfile you, cyberpussie...you provide many us with
endless reams of cheap entertainment.
