Rice Select/Texmati has three different kinds of brown rice in a
long-grain basmati-like strain. They are all excellent. You can
find them at CostCo, at least. I'm pretty sure the brand is sold
nationwide (and it's US-grown).

India is trying to disclaim it's basmati origin, and they're
probably right. It's not basmati, but it's very similar and just as
good. I especially like their Kasmati variety. And their royal
blends are good as well (I've only tried the one with wild and red
rice).

I used to use "Tilda" brand basmati; first white rice version and
then later brown. Now, i can only find one store that sells "Kohinoor"
brand; it's very good though.

I have used Texmati white rice long time ago; it was very good.

I am getting Costco membership; I didn't before because the store is a
little out of the way for me.

I think the Rice select is good quality but the import (both brown and
white basmati) stuff I get is better quality. So I wouldn't switch
unless I couldn't get the import stuff.

what do you think of using the brown/basmati for fried rice, steve? i
haven't tried anything like that, but i'm a little skeptical.

I was thinking to make fried rice and am planning to pick up Lundberg
long grain brown rice cus last time I tried,, it tasted more like
white rice and I think it would be work for fried rice. Brown Basmati
might taste ok but in a different way..
