Are your appliances color coordinated?

I bought a cobalt blue kitchen aid mixer for it being my favorite color, that
didn't match the kitchen or other appliances.

You r.f.c-ers got kitchen color coordinated "STUFF"???

Hell no. White, black, stainless, industrial gray, etc. Function first,
cosmetics third, still haven't determined what's second.

I would if I could ... slowly I have been turning my kitchen appliances to
brushed steel and black ... one thing at a time. It doesn't match anything
else in my kitchen ... but by the time I get everything painted and a new
floor, it will.
however I wanted the orange KA mixer ... but the model that I wanted only
comes in white. BUT, I have considered taking it to a car painting place
and looking into getting it painted.

Sorta. I often will add things to dishes, expecially stir fries, to
add a touch of color -- bit of green or red or yellow pepper, tomato
concasse on/over something dark, some chopped fresh parsley on
something light. That what you mean? -aem

aem,

I more kinda/sorta meant appliances matching, color-wise. An interior

Not really. Everyone seems to adore [large] appliances in stainless. Not
me; give me basic white. Your blue mixer will go with it just fine ;)

I am working on it, but not with appliances, with cookware and
pot holders and oven mitts and such.

I have a few deep shiny red enamel pots and pans, same color
(deep cherry) potholders and oven mitts, and towels and other
thing with canteloupe color, lemon yellow, and spring green along
with touches of the deep red. Sounds weird, looks delicous.

A skinned and gutted cat should ripen in a cool place, not the kitchen.

Apart from that : In the kitchen it's always function over presentation.

I really love white. I will never have anything but white (or some
variation)
walls, because of the feeling of space it gives, and because you can change
colors by changing accessories.

We moved in to a plethora of 1960s-1990s appliances, mostly in bronze
or coppertone. I think I am just going to replace with white, because I like
the clean, bright look of it, and I can just change my towel and accessory
color. Our new refrigerator is white. (Stainless is lovely in big, new, well
appointed kitchens, but would look out of place in my small, old kitchen.
Also, it can look "industrial" to me.)

Personally, I love ss. I was brought up with it and feel comfortable
with it. As far as scratching, well it all depends on how you handle
it. You can scratch porcelain too. In fact you can gouge it. When I
bought this house, my lovely *pink* kitchen sink looked like a crane
had dropped a wrecking ball on it. There was a huge chunk of
porcelain missing - I never found out how it happened.

There was AID (American Institute of Interior Decorators) founded in 1931

I wouldn't want to take care of stainless steel, although I do like the
look. Personally, I prefer black appliances, which is what we have.
Although our black refrigerator has what "appears" to be stainless steel
doors, it's actually brushed aluminum under a layer of matte acrylic. It
neither spots, fingerprints, nor stains. Right now we have a stainless
steel sink which will be replaced with a black cast iron sink as soon as
finances permit.

I don't know many who would be. :-)

Imagine how nice it's going to be when you ditch the yellow
countertops! (laugh) Are they formica? You can glue a
new layer on top of the old if they're in good shape.

These days, I wouldn't bet serious money about if an appliance or sink
was ss or brushed aluminum... I have to look at the tag to know.
Let's just say I love the stainless steel "look".

Actually, I do too, Barbara, but I think it's been a bit overdone by now.
Many new kitchens or kitchen remodels are being done in more of an "old
world" look. Even the most modern appliances are being housed in exteriors
that belie their technology. I think many of them are charming. But if
it's sleek and modern you want, then stainless steel is still about the
only way to go.

Yes, it's possible to damage a porcelain fired cast iron sink, but it's
also possible to scratch a stainless steel sink. I can assure you, a black
sink does not stain. Had one before. :-) And, yes, they are quite heavy.
Cast Iron sinks were "standard issue" (usually in white), for many decades.
Although the white ones could be stained, a spot of bleach would instantly
remove it.
