When I was jes a wee tyke, a nice lady used to make pan cakes for us kids.
They were mostly box mixes, but we didn't care. She'd do it daily and there was an ever-present supply of snack food in the form of a pan cake with killer frosting. As I recall, the frosting was your basic "butter frosting". That is, it was made with one cube of real butter and a whole box of powdered sugar. I seem to recall it was a basic recipe on the side/back of a box of powdered sugar. I don't see it on sugar boxes, anymore, no doubt due to the PC and DC (dietetically correct) police bearing down. Any one of you ol' butter freaks know the traditional recipe? nb |
