Default "Gadgets & Gizmos"

Hi

I am NOT advertising but... went looking for a banana slicer,
mentioned in another thread and found this interesting link about
Gadgets & Gizmos. Take a look at the apple slicer. Interesting.

That's one heck of an expensive apple slicer! The "egg cuber" is very odd.
Square hardboiled eggs? LOL

I have this model: http://tinyurl.com/ynsdu7 with the exception that mine
came with a clamp, not a suction mount and it was $15, iirc.

It takes seconds to use. Mine is a couple years old and is just like new.

Definitely Rube Goldbergesque!

The square-egg thingie has been around for ages. They're pretty
expensive because you'd either have to do one egg at a time (and the
others would cool off while the first egg is in the gadget), or you'd
have to have multiple shapers. Still, they're kewl.

It looks like the expensive apple slicer needs a hand-hold somewhere.
Otherwise, it would be pretty awkward to use.

I have one of those. They were being sold back in the 70's
I think. I wanted one and someone got me one for my birthday
or Xmas. The trouble is, if you want to make a bunch of square
eggs it takes forever because they have to stay in the device
long enough to "set", as I recall it was an hour at least in
the fridge, maybe longer. I did have one party where I served
square devilled eggs. But that was the only time I used it.
I still have it somewhere. What you need is at least a dozen
of the damn things. Then it would be cool.

Looks to me like you hold the blade in one hand and turn the apple with
the other. Maybe. :-)
