Why all of a sudden (recently) are lots of the usenet posted timestamps
wrong?

Something to do with the early daylight saving time change?

Computer clocks set incorrectly for their time zone? My computer clock
apparently doesn't like this Daylight Savings Time thing because it reset
itself back to regular time once since I changed it. I hasn't misbehaved
since I changed it back again, though. Why do we bother with this crap
anyway?

Regardless of which Windows OS you have, download TZEDIT.EXE and you can use
it to change your DST settings. Your problem will fix itself after 2:00am
tomorrow but it will not go back to standard time on the rightdate.

TZEDIT is a M$ applet, perfectly safe to use. Simply edit the time zone
dates. Close the app then manually chnge your time zone to some other one
to force the change. Then change it back to the proper one. Problem fixed.

Don't know. My computer is set correctly to PDT. I posted something
a little while ago and Google Groups immediately showed it with a time
stamp an hour earlier. I am posting this at 7:23 PDT. -aem

probably. *nix computers won't change until real DST.

I don't know if this is true for anyone else. McAfee came out
with an update and suddenly my firewall wouldn't let my
internet time protocol update. I disabled my firewall and updated
my time. I thought it worked but I'm not sure. I look fine to me,
timewise. Feel free to tell me if I'm not posting correctly. It's 4:29pm
as I post.

Your posting time reads as 1:29pm in the pacific time zone, so if you're in
the eastern tz you're fine.

I feel totally left out. Living in Arizona, I don't have any issues
with Daylight Savings Time. Except for the Navajo Nation in
northeastern Arizona, we don't have DST. :outing::

well, according to your headers, your computer clock is
correct, but you NNTP posting host is an hour behind...

i put McAffe on my computer & it screwed *everything* up &
wouldn't allow me to even open one of my games. i had to
remove it, which "lost" a whole range of things on my C drive,
like Wordpad, the calculator & the games... fortunately i have
a complete mirror on my D drive so i just put shortcuts to
those programs pointing to D. but it's so annoying that
removing McAffee's took those things out too.

Did I mention you should be prepared to tell me how to fix it
since I've done everything I can think of already?

Hmmm. My pc came with it installed. Thanks for the warning not
to uninstall it.

I don't see how McAfee gets away with it. I tried a McAfee product
that screwed up my computer too. I uninstalled it immediately, but I
don't think it took any other programs with it. Thank goodness

I thought I was the only one having trouble. A month or two ago I was
having a hard time with new posts not appearing. There would be nothing for
12 hours or more, and then all of a sudden they came flooding in. For a
while last week I would click on a post and it would take a minute or two
for it to open. Then on Saturday I had a hard time connecting to the
service. yesterday I was getting serious lag times again.

in the us the time change and a lot of computers not being updated right with
fixes has caused the problem. We changed when dst starts earlier date this year
and it has reeked havoc internationally with computer clocks. Aussies changed
to dst this past weekend i think too.....
